That's the question Bobby Schindler asked in the case involving Jesse Ramirez, the Arizona man whose case paralleled that of Schindler's sister, Terri Schiavo, until Ramirez woke up. The Arizona Republic reports:
...Bobby Schindler of the Florida-based Terri Schindler Shiavo Foundation placed the blame on a medical establishment quick to dismiss patients with brain injuries. Why is Jesse alive? His family sought legal intervention with the help of the Alliance Defense Fund:
Schindler is the brother of Terri Schiavo, a brain-damaged Florida woman who died in 2005 after a decades-long court battle.
"What is the rush?" he asked. "This is not the first time we've heard of cases like this where doctors want to write off the chance of recovery, and the family, when they're told this, will make a decision to end a person's life.
"In the case of Mr. Ramirez, he'd be dead now."
His siblings and parents refused to give him up for dead, and today, Jesse Ramirez is alive and conscious.
Two weeks ago, he was the center of a family battling over of whether he should live or die.
Now, he can hug and kiss, nod his head, answer yes and no questions, give a thumbs-up sign and sit in a chair.

Good moms do not cover up for their controlling boyfriends who hurt their children. Really good moms don't LET the boyfriends hurt their children in the first place. Really, really good moms shoot the honkbleepers if they try.
I am convinced the DSS was complicit in letting Holli Strickland steal Haleigh Poutre from her mother, and complicit again in letting Strickland "explain" repeated abuses. Jason Strickland, the husband, must have joined in the abuse, which included beatings, burning Haleigh with cigarettes, pushing her repeatedly down the stairs, and finally beating her comatose with a baseball bat. As soon as Holli was out of jail, Haleigh's grandmother shot her to death.
Cod preserve us!
Lutefisk, the piece of cod that passeth understanding...
Yeah, leave that to judges. They know when and how to kill disabled women.
:-)
What it doesn't passeth is the smell test.
Dry the cod till hard as bricks
Put the bricks in vats of lye
Lye turns bricks to jellied fish
Stinking up to heaven high
You will eat the lutefisk
Not I.
She wasn't dying, you morons. She was killed, slain, murdered, assassinated, put to death, executed. They wouldn't even give her an ice chip to ease her agony.
>> An autopsy later showed her brain had shrunk markedly, and no recovery could have occurred.
The new Michael Schiavo murder law: If you can make your wife's brain shrink enough, you get a second chance to kill her. The court will help.
Mrs. Navarro is the mother and only surviving family of her son Ruben, who was stricken with Adrenal Leukodystrophy, a rare disorder that left him confined to a wheelchair. The court papers allege that last January, 26-year old Ruben was transferred to the Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center due to a medical issue. Ms. Navarro went to visit him at the hospital where she was led to believe that Dr. Hootan Roozrokh was Ruben's "treating doctor". According to the complaint, he was actually working for a California organ-harvesting corporation.

You must have forgotten about the study on 6 healthy volunteers taking Seldane and a common antifungal, which had to be stopped because 4 of the 6 developed dangerous arrhythmias. Here's some additional information for those interested. Do bear in mind that they were still finding out more about Seldane and Hismanal when this article was written. The more they found out, the more dangerous the drugs appeared, and they were finally withdrawn from the market. And if you want to trust that the drug companies reported every case, I have a nice bridge to sell you.
No way of knowing what caused Terri Schiavo's cardiac arrhythmia, of course. But you asked for possibilities, and I provided them.
Have a nice weekend, doc.
Maybe he'll confess.

Cat bites? Yeah, right.
Why is it that DSS(insert your state’s idiot squad here) can find time to bother homeschoolers, harass custodial parents, but ARE INCAPABLE OF SAVING A CHILD?????
I hope little Jayla can heal, and is a good candidate for reconstructive surgery. I also hope those two so called “parents” do hard time.

Thanks, bjs1779. That is powerful and it touches the good within any human heart. The torturers have no answer for there is no answer.
If there were a shelf at your local bookstore labeled "Thrillers for Republicans," Chicago's Brad Thor would take up his fair share of room.
~Snip~
The First Commandment -- in which Thor's recurring hero, a White House counterterrorism operative and former Navy SEAL named Scot Harvath, struggles to find a vicious terrorist targeting his family and friends -- rails against illegal immigration, puts a conservative spin on the Terri Schiavo right-to-die controversy and deplores both radical Muslims and the moderates who enable them.
~Snip~
He notes that he employs a Muslim nanny for his two young children, and, Harvath's views notwithstanding, has a living will that stipulates the author wouldn't want to be kept alive on wires and feeding tubes. But Thor (his real name, from an old Swedish family) sticks to his guns on what he sees as the rising tide of Islamic terrorism, the fundamentalist ideology that he says inspires it, and the need for the harshest possible tactics in response.

Marcelle Jones has thought a lot about how her life might end. She has been treated for a serious medical problem for several years, and while it has not gotten worse, eventually "it's going to get me," said Jones, 82.
Long before she moved to Lakeland in 1990, Jones had joined the Hemlock Society - now known as Compassion and Choices - an organization that provides information about how terminally ill people can end their lives, either through passive means or, if they choose, by suicide.

On the other hand, I have seen a miracle this morning, sort of! That puts me in the mood to believe just about anything except Michael Schiavo being innocent because Terri collapsed of some impossibly rare malady right when he was asphyxiating her.
My local "miracle" was a PARROT at our sunflower seeder. Lime green plumage, ivory breast, some blue feathering apparently on the wings. The bleeping thing flew off an instant before I could get my camera on it. All I got was a fuzzy picture of its disappearing hind end; all the fuzzier because I took it through a window screen. But, I do have another witness. The mistress of the house saw it too. The bird had to be an escapee; this is way too far from its range for an accidental.
"relax and be friendlier toward others"
Ironic advice, coming from a person with your tagline.
