London faced a fresh terror alert tonight as police hunting the gang behind the nightclub bomb plot evacuated Hyde Park.
Fresh details emerged of how the gang - believed to be linked to al Qaeda - came within moments of causing carnage with a 'massive bomb' attack on a West End club.
Park Lane, on Hyde Park's eastern edge, is closed from Marble Arch to Hyde Park corner, with a 200-metre cordon around a suspicious vehicle in an underground car park. It is not known however if this vehicle also contains a bomb.

“were inside and around the car”
Thanks. I would think that a bunch of LP canisters laying around a car in Picaddily Circus MIGHT get noticed.!?? And I bet my suspicions are correct that by the time he got around to opening the eighth tank he had probably had a snootful and was a bit loopy. (Perhaps he was in such a state that he couldn’t dial the cell phone number correctly to detonate the bomb!?)
We (as in civilized people everywhere) sure got lucky on this.
Thanks for the ping Seadog Bytes.
If they are filled with propane gas they could be one of the biggest explosives one can think of. Propane gas is incredibly powerful when it blows up.
All one can do is pray; I’m about half waiting to see story of “reprisal acts” as was in Holland; and the anger is understandable. B-———ds!
The nails are an ‘invention’ first used in Israel.
Have no idea what might have been posted, but the “The Sun” (www.thesun.co.uk) boards were down... maybe something going on, one way or another.
I watched a Hooligan film made in England, “The Football Factory” funny and it’s got Pakistanis in it; these guys pick up some Pakistan women in a bar and later, have to deal with their brothers (I don’t want to say anything wrong just what is part of the story line).
But these radicals mess it up for everyone.
They whipped the Nazis; you’re sarcasm is not helpful.
"They"?
I believe there were a lot of American Troops who would say they helped. I would also say that there were a lot of Russian Soldiers who also helped. 'They' would not have been able to do it by themselves.
Also, it is a mock of their immigration laws. Which, if you and I do not learn a lesson from Londonistan and Paristan, we will see New Yorkastan.
The bomb set off outside a Bali nightclub in 2002 killing over 200, including 88 Australians, was partly fueled by gas cylinders.
From the Wikipedia article on the Bali nightclub bombing:
"The car bomb was initially thought to have consisted of C4, a military grade plastic explosive which is difficult to obtain. However, on 21 October investigators at the scene disclosed that the main portion of the bomb consisted of ammonium nitrate, a fertilizer agent readily available in Indonesia."
There does not appear to have been any high explosive in the London bombs this week.
Plenty of references exist to the presence of gas cylinders - one example.

It certainly doesn't seem to be identical to the bombs in London - as you say, we haven't heard of any high explosives in those bombs - but gas cylinders can certainly add to a devastating situation. Not being an expert, perhaps they don't explode easily - but fire on top of an explosion will do more than an explosion by itself - as seen in Bali.
Re: #86. Good point. We can’t forget the Nobel Peace Prize-winning father of terrorism Yasser Arafat’s contribution to society...
