Cairo: The son-in-law of former Egyptian president Jamal Abdul Nasser, named by Israeli officials as a source for Mossad, "lost his balance" before a fall from his London balcony, Egyptian state media said yesterday.
Ashraf Marwan, who died on Wednesday, had been living in London for many years after leaving Egyptian government service in the late 1970s.
Israeli media say that Marwan, who was married to Nasser's daughter Mona, had passed a warning to Israel's Mossad intelligence agency on the eve of the 1973 Middle East war that Egypt and Syria were about to attack.
The Times of London reported that Marwan, 62, had feared for his life after he was publicly accused of being a spy for Mossad three years ago, but said there was also speculation that he may have committed suicide after a serious illness was diagnosed.
Egypt's Mena news agency quoted a source close to the family as saying Marwan suffered from balance problems recently.
Out of respect to Nasser and his positiom in arab lore, it is unlikely arab/iranian assassin would treat his son in law to beheading- an infidel’s death.
Were a hi level traitor beheaded it would more likely indicate a Mossad set-up than a Mossad operation imho
Life imitating art ... send in “The Closer” unit with Det. Lt. Provenza (G.W. Bailey) recreating the crime by throwing dummies off the balcony, naming each one after his ex-wives. Love his character.
He did lose his balance...and so would you if you were pushed from behind while standing next to a balcony.
I’m 63. I think I remember it from 3rd grade....because, yes...I read the newspaper everyday...along with a few comic books.
Marwan suffered from balance problems recently.
At least on this day.
Hmmm- it seems maybe it was the same guy- misleading headlines. So, one hit instead of two. I still smell serious war preps going on by both sides.
