I put onions in the gravy. I used NZ lambs liver as dad does not eat beef.

I basically seal the liver which I had covered in season flour in fact I used my Foreman grill. I had some gravy which I had made earlier in the week from chicken and lamb bones which I used as the basic of the gravy. I then grilled the bacon and onion and added to the gravy along with the liver. I put it into the slow cooker (crock pot) and then about half an hour before dishing up I thickened the gravy with cornflour (cornstarch).

I served it with mashed potato and veg. An old fashioned British dinner one which has made a come back over the last few years in England and now often on pub and restaurant menus.

Just a comment agreeing with your post of how some people either lie or post things that they have no knowledge of mainly because they have an agenda regardless of what the subject be.

Oh snugs, that does sound good. I also dredge mine in flour and then fry it gently in a little bit of oil until it's about medium well. In the meantime I've done a whole bunch of sliced onions and when the liver is done I smother it in the onions. I also do the bacon for my husband though. Afraid I'm not familiar with New Zealand lamb liver. Our beef liver can be a bit strong if it's older so we try to get it as young as possible. I don't think I've ever had lamb's liver. Does it taste anything like beef liver? We also like chicken livers, but done differently.

silent_jonny: Thank you for posting the photos from Kennebuck Port . . . I just love viewing photos of the President and his father enjoying moments of pure joy/relaxation as they fish off Walkers Point — my father and I did the same thing when he was still able (except we went fishing in Lake Erie)!

. . . FROM THE PRESIDENT’S VISIT TO THE NAVAL WAR COLLEGE (RI):

You will find some excellent articles and photos here:

My favorite article:
BUSH COMFORTS FAMILIES OF WAR VICTIMS
by M. Catherine Callahan/Daily News staff

NEWPORT - Two local families grieving the loss of soldiers killed in the war in Iraq had tearful meetings Thursday with America’s commander in chief, who assured them that their loved ones did not die in vain.

Relatives of Sgt. Christopher Potts of Tiverton, a National Guardsman killed by Iraqi insurgents on his 38th birthday, Oct. 3, 2004, and Sgt. Michael R. Weidemann, 23, of Newport, who was killed in action on Oct. 31, 2006, met with President Bush at the Naval War College shortly after he gave a speech on the war on terror.

In private sessions held at McCarty Little Hall, a war gaming facility, the president offered his condolences and thanks to the Potts and Weidemann families, as well as to the other Rhode Island families who have suffered the heartbreak of war.

“He actually complimented all the parents for bringing up courageous and responsible children who wanted to go and serve their country,” said Elizabeth A. Hackett of Middletown, Potts’ mother.

INTERVIEW WITH FORMER PRESIDENT BUSH:

Francois Mitterand, Lech Welesa, King Hussein—just a few of the world leaders who have been on the world stage otherwise known as “Walker’s Point”, Kennebunkport, Maine.
Ine less than one week, another name will be added to that list: Vladamir Putin.

President George Bush is hoping the visit will help smooth troubled relations between the United States and Russia.

News 13’s Kim Block sat down with Former President George Bush to talk about the role Walker’s Point has played in international politics, and the expectations for the coming summit.

THANK YOU PRESIDENT BUSH . . .

America’s ultimate constitutional arbiter has tilted rightwards under Bush — a shift that could endure for decades even if a Democrat returns to the White House in next year’s election.

Analysts pointed to a slew of rulings in the court’s just-ended 2006-07 term that hit many of the right buttons for Bush’s Republican base including on abortion, free speech and affirmative action.

“It’s an interesting thing that on the day he lost his legacy with regard to the immigration reform, he gained a legacy in terms of the Supreme Court,” said Jonathan Turley, professor at the George Washington University Law School.

“He can honestly claim that he changed the Supreme Court, and his new majority changed the law in this country, and thereby changed the country,” he said.

. . . Provoking outrage from Democrats and civil-rights campaigners, Chief Justice John Roberts led a five-to-four majority in ruling that school authorities do not have free rein to balance the racial mix of their student populations.

The ruling dismantled a key plank of “affirmative action” programs that promote racial diversity in US schools, sparking unusually passionate language from the bench’s liberal minority.

“It is my firm conviction that no member of the court that I joined in 1975 would have agreed with today’s decision,” wrote the Supreme Court’s longest-serving justice, John Paul Stevens.

In 2003, the Supreme Court had narrowly upheld race-based admissions policies in universities thanks to the swing vote of Sandra Day O’Connor.

The court’s first female member retired last year and was replaced by Bush’s conservative nominee Samuel Alito. On Bush’s nomination, as well, Roberts became the court’s third-youngest chief justice in 2005.

The confirmation of Roberts and Alito was from the start a setback for civil rights, said People For the American Way Foundation president Ralph Neas, “but it’s painful to watch years of progress undone so recklessly.”

Time appears to be on the side of the conservative bloc, which also includes Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, the court’s only black justice.

Supreme Court justices can sit for life if they choose. While Roberts is only 52, Stevens is 87 and his liberal ally Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 74.

Conservative legal commentator Horace Cooper said that under Bush’s picks, the court is now “much more focused on the actual case, on the issue, and less concerned about the political or social ramifications, and less idealistic.”

Among other recent victories for conservative Republicans, the Supreme Court in April backtracked on abortion rights for the first time in more than a generation by upholding a ban on a late-term abortion procedure.

AGAIN,THANK YOU PRESIDENT BUSH!

Interesting! Well if you like liver, and if you all have lots of chickens, you may want to try them. I cook mine dredged in the same flour and fried in a little oil, but I add just a tiny bit of “smoke” and then do sliced cooked mushrooms and serve all of it over toast points. Yummy, yum, yum :-)

Thanks for the information! I will be checking some of these out tomorrow. It makes me very happy, too, to see the President getting to relax for a little while. I worry about him sometimes with the weight of the world on his shoulders and people hating him. I believe people who hate like that will get paid back in some kind of way. Have a terrific weekend!

Thanks for all your great links...and stories.

I am going to get to see Walker’s Point in August and
I am so excited. I would just love it if the president
were there then, but that’s a lot to hope for!

I am just glad he is getting some family time...even though
it seems that Putin becomes “family” on Sunday! LOL!
