Now is not the time to let up. We need to pressure our politicians to enforce the existing immigration laws including deporting illegal aliens, building the fence and prosecuting businesses who do business with illegal aliens. The link below is a ping list to pay attention for other questionable legislation being considered in Congress.

Though his recent vote against cloture will please some conservatives, there is the potential that a) conservatives won’t believe Brownback’s commitment to the issue considering his lengthy support of the bill and b) that he will be seen as a flip-flopper, just another pandering politician.

Nope, because we caught the weasel red-handed, courtesy of Michelle Malkin.

Nice picture of the Senator. But he is a disgrace to principled weasels everywhere. And get this from NR: A Bit More from Sam Brownback

Sam Brownback offers an additional comment on his voting yes, then no:

"I wanted to signal that I am supportive of comprehensive immigration reform, but that now is not the time and this is not the bill."

His staff says this was done intentionally, and that he deliberately voted first and loudl

From NRO:

*****************************

A Bit More from Sam Brownback:

Sam Brownback offers an additional comment on his voting yes, then no:

"I wanted to signal that I am supportive of comprehensive immigration reform, but that now is not the time and this is not the bill."

His staff says this was done intentionally, and that he deliberately voted first and loudly. More here.

UPDATE: The mockery continues. It's a shame that he's named Brownback, since the "Switchback" nickname is going to stick. If he were named "Smith" or "Jones," his critics wouldn't have that opportunity...

He had his epiphany about 2/3 of the way through the vote.

If he voted our way, why gripe? Is he now just damned if he does and damned if he doesn't? That will get us nowhere in the future.

There is a big difference between changing your vote and changing your position in a campaign. Now this may be both, but it is hardly wise to slam a guy who did what you wanted him to do where it counted. Slam him for voting one way and then campaigning another. That's legit. But it is not legit if the change has a real result you can see.

The problem with flip-flopper Romney is that his change is all talk. Sam has a long conservative record. He fell for the Bush line on immigration and it burned him. If Brownback has a flaw it is that he can sometimes be too much of a team player. Of course that can be good or bad,, depending on the application. In this case it wasn't good. But Sam Brownback in general is no flip-flopper. Not even close.

I thank him for his vote.

Sam Brownback, the Republican Kerry (”I voted for cloture before I voted against it - c’mon, can’t you simpletons see the logic? Oh, by the way, I served in Vietnam and want to be President.”).

Regarding your run for President: Buh, bye! Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Brownback does deserve a black eye for his immigration stance, but let’s be careful who we want out of office.

There’s only 4 Senators with a higher ACU rating that have served as long as Brownback.

And no one is batting 1.000.

Matter of fact, the highest ACU rating is only 4% above Brownback!

Yes, he’s wrong on immigration. But he’s a lot closer to what we need in a Senator than the overwhelming majority of Senators and candidates out there.

Folks turning their back on guys like Brownback for a failure to be perfect is how Kansas got stuck with a Dem. Governor.

Weasels are flexible, adaptable critters that honestly earn their living.

In this regard, they bear no resemblance to Senator Switchback,
er, Senator La Raza, er...Senator Brownback.

And furthermore, Brownback will never be President of the USA.
He won’t even get a promotion to sporkweasel.

I know politicians rewrite history. What does it say about a guy who can't defend his record in front of the American people? Sam Switchback has set a new record for cynicism in politics.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
