I would disagree with your take regarding Sen. Brownback’s switch as well as everyone who switched. The previous Yeah from him in particular was a recognition that something has to be done and his hopes for the amendments to fix the bill.

When the amendments got shot down he realized that this bill was going to be worse than a status quo and voted no on cloture.

I think we all can agree that something has to be done about the issue and he was trying to get action on the issue. The fact that he was trying to get movement is not disgraceful.

Flowers are nice, but I bet the good Senators would appreciate a campaign contribution more, complete with a thank-you note.

That would be a good way for those of us who’ve decided not to give one more penny to the RNC, and instead to give contributions directly to conservatives, to show our appreciation for their hard work. These guys were leaned on, hard. I’m sure the WH hinted that a certain level of money and support would not be there for their next election, and yet they stood strong. We the People should make up the difference.

Yea what needed to be done is ENFORCEMENT OF CURRENT LAWS.

He complied to the presidents “request” and will get “paid” with some sort of pork

As far as I am concerned he sold his soul.. we do not need another President that is for sale to the highest bidder.

Masculine bovine excrement would be more appropriate.

Why should be be mad if the man changed his vote to the correct one? I called his office this morning and they sort of indicated he was going vote yes again. I think he did the wrong things.

Ya gotta be kidding me.

Lindsey Graham, the most prolific purveyor of amnesty, with the possible exception of The Swimmer (D-MA) didn’t make it to the bottom of the list?

“When the amendments got shot down he realized that this bill was

Yes, Brownback’s vote switching was a “profile in courage”.
Seeing how he probably has hurt his chances for the next round
of awards from La Raza.

Well this morning when his vote was needed, he voted yes. When it was no longer necessary he voted no, so he could go home and h=tell his constituents he listened to them, But this was only after his pro amnesty side found they didn’t have the votes. Way to stick your neck out Sam.

Brownback/Voinovich:
“I voted for cloture before I voted against it!”

Now that’s some proud legacy! (/sarc!)

He voted yeah on the second vote and then switched his vote after he realized cloture would not work-coward. I have more respect for Lott-he at least is honest and willing to stand by his vote.

Brownback gave a very loud “yeah” during theinitiate roll call vote TODAY! In fact, his “Yeah” was easily the loudest of any Senator. And I say this as an otherwise great admirer of the man.

Oh my gosh HOW TERRIBLE a conservative with a humanitarian side. You mean one is supposed to want to run all immigrants down and exploit them to be a “true” conservative?

Next you will hold his work to end genocide in Darfur against him.

This is a man who puts his faith to work shame on him!

Brownback should have at least waited until it was decided prior to casting his vote. I like him for themost part, but he wasn’t thinking about this vote. He might as well kiss his campaign goodbye.

Sorry not buying what you are selling.........

IF Brownback didn't realize that this bill was AMNESTY for 20 plus million ILLEGAL ALIENS...in any form. He doesn't deserve to be a Senator.

KS...has a HUGE ( per capita to the native pop. ) illegal alien problem..in many towns.

Oh my gosh HOW TERRIBLE a conservative with a humanitarian side.

Generally I do see Brownback as a decent, moral fellow.

But he is a politician, as evidenced by his FLIP-FLOP today.

I will agree with Brownback on many moral issues.
But I won't be blind, having seen how he threw his "compassion"
for illegal immigrants overboard today for political expediency.

Today, anyone who paid attention to the chronology of Brownback's
voting saw he's just a mortal.
With feet of clay like most of us.
