Immigration Bill Prompts Some Menacing Response ( and why SC voters should fire Lindsey Graham )
The New York Times ^ | June 28 2007 | Jeff Zeleny

Posted on 06/28/2007 8:50:34 AM PDT by DesScorp

Senator Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican who is one of the architects of the immigration overhaul, said he also had received threats in telephone calls and letters to his office. Mr. Graham said several other senators had told him privately that they also received similar messages.

“There’s racism in this debate,” Mr. Graham said. “Nobody likes to talk about it, but a very small percentage of people involved in this debate really have racial and bigoted remarks. The tone that we create around these debates, whether it be rhetoric in a union hall or rhetoric on talk radio, it can take people who are on the fence and push them over emotionally"...

As Mr. Graham walked back to his office on Wednesday, he said he doubted that senators would be deterred by any threats. “I’m sure a lot of the people who have taken a high-profile position on this have been threatened, but what are you going to do?” he said. “You saw what happened to Senator Daschle.”

Mr. Graham was referring to Tom Daschle, the former Democratic majority leader from South Dakota, whose office received a mailing of anthrax in 2001. The case remains unsolved.

“One of the requirements of public service in modern America is dealing with a few voices that are full of hate,” Mr. Graham said. “And our discourse and the way we politic, the way we engage each other, brings that out.”

According to other sources, Brownback and Voinovitch first voted “yes” on cloture today, and then changed it to “no” when they saw that the cloture motion was going to fail.

So I don’t think they deserve much if any credit for their votes.

“South Carolina voters, read your Senators comments. This man hates his own voters. Come primary time, what are you going to do about it?”

*************************************************

We know the name of that tune here in Massachusetts where We the People were denied the right to vote on whether or not to allow gay marriage.

Our “Fearless Leaders” including Senator Ted Kennedy weaselworded the issue by inventing a bogus “civil right” to commit sodomy, etc., and following it up with corresponding twaddle/propaganda about how “civil rights” shouldn’t be subjected to a vote by the People - including the People whose parental rights are being usurped by those who are determined to forcibly peddle their perversions to their kids in the public schools while denying them the right to opt their kids out.

If my fellow Americans from other states haven’t done so already, I hope that they will pay very close attention to the way in which We the People of Massachusetts were denied our right to vote - even by RINOS who broke their campaign promises, changed their vote at the last minute, and voted AGAINST their own constituents!

In any case, today, I am proud of my fellow American citizens who refused to allow our national sovereignty to be further eroded and/or sold down the river by political whores in Washington for whom the word “PATRIOTIC” has somehow become politically incorrect .

What is up with this guy, he’s got some serious mental issues? Count me in to send a donation to the primary opponent who takes him on.

I totally agree. I think they both need to get the boot just for not standing up for conservative principles or the people who elected them.

“Not just Graham. ALL of them that voted for it should be thrown out. We need to clean house!”

While that is so true remember, punishing Republicans by electing Democrats will ENSURE that illegals will run even more rampant and those illegals will vote for other Democrats.

McCain voted “yea” again. Just how stupid is he? Can it be quantified?

“When the time comes I’ll look at ways to help you South Carolina folks get rid of your embarrassment of a Senator.”

You can add me to the list. When the time comes, just let me know where to send the $$.

Same here, though my funds are limited...I'll gladly help contributing some amount....a little bit more is better than nothing, imho.

A couple of points: First, Congressional offices get threatening mail all the time. There is a procedure set up to deal with it. Second, this guy is afraid of phone calls and mail, and he is supposed to be fighting the terrorists? He really is a Weeping Pansy.

There's a petition out there to recall Mel Martinez of Florida. All Americans can sign it. I just did. He has been an embarassment to the GOP, and should be ousted!

Graham should take note that what happened to Daschle is he got voted out of office because his constituents got tired of his stupidity.

Instead of focusing on the "anthrax mailing" in 2001 perhaps he should instead consider what happened to Dasshole's reelection bid.

That's right, he got shit-canned by the voters, just like YOU will when you run for re-election, you worthless pile of steaming dog dung......

The time to do that is in the GOP PRIMARY rather than waiting until November.

“The time to do that is in the GOP PRIMARY rather than waiting until November.”

Agreed. We need to hit the primaries hard to get real Republicans in there. That’s the time to make changes.

You are correct. Now. How about that wall?? I think some of the best Air National Guard transport plane pilot / crew training would be to be flying illegals back to their home countries and if it’s a repeat offense.....3 hots and a cot for 6 months as the illegal helps build the wall / fence.

"The time to do that is in the GOP PRIMARY rather than waiting until November"

That dog won't hunt.

So long as the GOP fields no VIABLE candidates in the Primaries, and gives NO SUPPORT to conservative primary Republican challengers, you have NO candidate to vote for from the Republican Party EXCEPT the chosen one in those cases.

Unless the GOP recognizes their conservative base, and puts up CONSERVATIVE candidates IN THE PRIMARIES, the conservatives will NOT support RINO's anymore, and will do whatever they see as the most-conservative alternative they can find.

Senator Grahamnesty, you mistake racism for forty years of pent up frustration at how latinos take advantage of the Federal governments abdication of its responsibility to protect our borders and deal with those who penetrate them and frankly, sir, if you were here now I’d punch you in the nose for calling me a racist due to you and your ilk’s inability to do what the Constitution you swore to uphold requires you to do!!!
