Here we are again my friends, hopefully for the last debate thread on this particular monstrous legislation. Proceedings are supposed to begin at 9:30 a.m. EST, with the cloture vote being taken at 10:30 a.m.
On a personal note, you've all been wonderful in your passion, vigilance, and commitment to the principles on which our country was founded. If I have to be in a foxhole, I want to be in it with you guys.
There’s no use bickering over who lost biggest; this was a setback for Bush/Rove/Cheney, BigBiz RINOs, globalyst NWOs, AND the Reid/Kennedy Dems alike, no matter how each tries to spin it.
This was the ultimate crossover issue on which a majority of Americans agreed, it galvanized the right, left, and middle beyond liberal/conservative characterizations because it was recognized as a matter of survival, and because it was recognized as being pushed for the basest of reasons, POWER.
We need to keep the energy alive and keep the floodlights on those responsible. Expect retaliation, both overt and covert, from those in power in response to the failure of their shamnesty. We need to keep this energy alive and keep the floodlights on those responsible. We need to keep putting the elite on the hotseat over this, corruption, and how they are spending public funds. We need to support the few heroes who rose from this mess and championed our cause, with our support they can continue to be champions.
Keep using the emails and phones to insist on enforcement and arrest for lawbreakers who hire illegals. Dry up the illegal jobs and handouts, and watch the flow of illegals dry up with it.
President Bush Disappointed by Congress's Failure to Act on Comprehensive Immigration Reform |

EDT THE PRESIDENT: I thank the members of the Senate and members of my administration who worked so hard on the border security and immigration reform bill. I'm sorry the Senate was unable to reach agreement on the bill this morning. Legal immigration is one of the top concerns of the American people and Congress's failure to act on it is a disappointment. The American people understand the status quo is unacceptable when it comes to our immigration laws. A lot of us worked hard to see if we couldn't find a common ground -- it didn't work.... |
Thank you for this website!
Soo..may I be the first to say where’s the fence??? ......and we still have the same crummy immigration laws. So how’s that working for you for the next two years?
Who did you say won today again?

I’ve told my “Employees” plenty of times to Git’Er Done,,,
What did they do ??
They did their best to turn my country into a turd world shi’it hole like Mexico !!
The USA Won...;0)
How did hillary and obama vote? The Rep candidate needs to hammer on this issue, can you say Duncan Hunter?
Again, first answer #2089 and #2136.
Well, even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then. And this was one nut that was pretty hard to ignore, because we MADE it so. The MSM wasn't going to clue in the sheeple, so we all did it ourselves. I personally emailed and called every clueless friend I knew, and I know plenty of people who did the same. The same thing went on all across the country. We OURSELVES, along with evil talkradio, got the word out and were able to make the MSM irrelevant on the issue.
"One if by land, two if by sea..."
Pat yourselves on the back people. It's a grrreeaaattt day,and you deserve it.
Jeff you are correct. It is a loss for Republicans. The base is angry-rightfully so that the Senate tried to ram this down our throats. This was President Bush’s bill for all but hispanic voters who will forever believe that it it dingy Harry’s bill and vote accordingly. The Democrats played the Republican-it would probably be piling on to call the GOP the stupid party but...this was a lose-lose situation for them. The Republicans had their reasons(slave labor and perhaps some who truly believe the hispanics will vote Repub if we pander enough), but truly it backfired-they should have known better. I promise you no Dem would have introduced this bill with his name on it without cover from Pres. Bush and the Republican leadership.
I don't care if it takes 30 years, the Gov created this mess and the people want them to clean it up!
Have CNN conduct a poll.
You’ve got your numbers backward!
If it were not for Republicans the bill would’ve passed!!
Thank you. It is not clear why some want to lay this all on Reid's lap. We know Reid and 95% of the democrats don't have the country's best interest at heart - that isn't news. The democrats are the devil we know.
What should be disturbing is that a significant faction of the GOP, including the leadership, approached the democrats and worked with them to push us toward national suicide.
Even when the democrats had given up on the scheme, the republican leadership (spearheaded by Bush) put enough pressure on REPUBLICAN hold outs to bring it back to life.
You're a LIAR! I never called anyone a racist or nazi or KKKer. Prove it or stop lying about me.
And I erased my profile for other reasons....not a thing to do with my moderate position on illegal immigration.
But congratulations to you and yours on getting this bill defeated. You now have guaranteed that a democratic president and congress will reap the Hispanic vote for at least a generation.
Great play, Shakepeare!
Let’s try it this way:
Which party, by and large, saved us from this dreadful bill?
{direct answers only, no “squishy” answers, please}
“My God, how long do we have to put up with this Jimmy Swaggert moment?”
Dang, that’s it! Bullseye, that’s what he’s become.
Hilary and Obama voted yes, of course, and I hope it is a stake in the heart of each’s campaign. We must also remember the other ‘08 wannabes who supported this attempt to assassinate our country.
Here’s a link with a summary of numerous polls on the immigration issue:

At the end of Limbaugh's show today, he discussed something that Lindsey Graham said, that it was his job to work with the Democrat majority to get things done. Limbaugh disagreed, saying that it was Graham's job to defend his principles, and oppose the Democrats when they are in conflict.
If Repulbicans like Graham were to be asked if Democrats saw their job to be working with Republicans while the GOP ruled the Senate, what would these people say? They'd say things like, "well, that was them and we're different," or "we're not going to stoop to their level," or some excuse or another to explain away Democrat obstuctionist behavior. Yet over and over and over, the Republicans settle into the "go-along to get along" mode of operation.
They led the Senate like they were still in the minority, and now that they are in the minority they just want to get along.
