Cherie Blair's boss terms Tony Blair an a***hole for proposed smoking ban

A British millionaire who has reportedly hired outgoing Prime Minister Tony Blair's wife, Cherie, to fight the New Labour Government's ban on smoking, described Tony Blair as an "a***hole" on peak-time radio on Sunday.

Sixty-three-year-old Dave West, a lapdance boss, resorted to the use of unparliamentary language after claiming that human rights lawyer Cherie Blair, 52, thought his club should be exempted from new cigarette laws.

Interviewed onj BBC Radio Five, West was quoted by The Sun a saying that Tony Blair was an a***hole for introducing the smoking ban.

When Nicky Campbell, the show's host, said that there was no need for West to use such language, the latter said that he simply could not care less.

"I don't care, I don't care. What her husband is, is one thing. She has a right to her own opinion," West said.

West told listeners Cherie had visited his London club Hey Jo - which has taps shaped like manhoods - and was "over the moon" about it.

She is thought to be charging 3,500 pounds to advise him on his claim that the July 1 public smoking ban should not apply to his private clubs because they are an "extension" of his home.

QC Cherie - who forced hubby Tony to quit cigs before she wed - said yesterday: "I think everyone well knows my views on smoking.

"But I keep to the rules of my profession."

She got the case by chance as it was the next available at her chambers

No government should have the power to ban smoking in a private club. No government should have the power to ban smoking in a bar or pub. Let the owner and patrons decide.

Needless to say, just because Cherie Blair is advocating for a client does not imply that she believes the client’s position is correct. She is simply doing her job.

This guy is a yob, obviously. He is taking the occaision of Blair’s retirement and using it to generate publicity for his club. Obnoxious little twit.

You don"t live in the U.K or Australia.
Here in Oz. they are banning smoking in ALL pubs & clubs on the 1st of July. After that date it becomes an offence.
If I owned a pub I would stop the patrons from smoking so I wouldn't risk a fine.

Although I don’t believe in banning anything to a point, I don’t think that her boss should be talking about the best Prime Minister of England after Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher. The third best Prime Minister in Englands history should get more respect. She should quit her job immediately. Why would you want to work with someone like that.

I don’t smoke. But those who support such bans are in fact a**holes.

Mr. West seems to be a pretty good judge of character. If Blair hadn't been PM, he would make a great game show host.

Where do you rank him. I don’t recall the last Prime Minister who I don’t even know his name being on the side of our President for the War on Terror.

Equal worst PM in British history, on a par with Harold Wilson or Edward Heath.

Wow. I am only judging him on his complete and total support of President Bush and our War on Terror. I guess another thing is I really only know three Prime Ministers really well so I guess in actuality I placed him last too. lol.

Not here either. I guess I was putting too much into his support of President Bush on WOT.

Nominate any other PM who has caused as much damage to Britain's culture and status in the world, in so short a time.
