Haditha- Our Familys Thoughts
Our son, L/Cpl Justin Sharratt will be exonerated of the charges of three counts of unpremeditated murder in a firefight that occurred in Haditha, Iraq on 19 November 2005. Our family knew these charges were false. Our son, Our Marine was not capable of such acts. Justin was a disciplined Marine, trained to defend his country and the lives of his fellow Marines. Justin supported a singular mission, to defend this great nation of ours..
Throughout this ordeal, the readers of FR and Americans from every corner of the United States have joined us in our fight. Your calls, your prayers, your letters and e-mails carried us through these rough times. Your monetary assistance has eased the financial burden of defending our warrior son. Without this support, our family may not have made it through these trying times.
I will never tell a bad lawyer joke for the rest of my days. Attorneys Gary Meyers, James Culp, Dan Conway and Lt Col Brian Cosgrove are extraordinary persons. They truly believed in the innocence of our son and used their expertise to prove it. Sometimes the task seemed daunting. L/Cpl Justin Sharratt vs. the government of the United States. Throw in the media and self-serving politicians and there were plenty of sleepless nights.
In the spirit of Americas founding fathers, our family will go on. We will put together the pieces of our shattered lives and move forward. Though I cant help but wonder what could have been. The childhood dreams of our son have been dashed by a system gone awry. It was once said you can harm ones body, but you cannot destroy the soul. The Marine Corps has lost a warrior son. Justin will no longer wear the uniform he had taken so much pride in donning. We, as a family will mend his spirit and God will help mend his soul. To the Marine Corps I say .shame on you.
To the families of Americas fallen heroes, I shout . thank-you and God bless. For you have made the ultimate sacrifice. Our son, Justin came back to us and we are fortunate. He will continue on lifes path suppressing the memories of fallen comrades. Our nation will plod forward kept safe by the blood and sweat of our unsung heroes, past and present. They could, when we couldnt. They did, when we didnt.
God Bless
Darryl, Theresa, Jaclyn, L/Cpl Justin Sharratt
Ping!
I have faith that He will, because even in these times, we see so many who find out about the truth...who seek it out despite the bias of the main media and the ideological leanings and crass self serving attitudes of so many politicians, and who then on finding the truth, stand up for it.
II Chron 7: 14
Justin should get a medal and Murtha should be tried on sedition charges.
Hallujah!
I am praying that God will restore each one of you after the tribulation you have been through.
The childhood dreams of our son have been dashed by a system gone awry.

That is the saddest portion of this letter - for me.
I’m so sorry this has happened to your son and your family. Please thank Justin for his service to our country. We are blessed by men such as him.
Ping, Ping, Ping!
I shall be forever grateful to your son for his service, regardless of how his country ultimately treated him. Your family remains in my prayers, for continued healing and blessings. Thank you for writing.
Wonderful news!
Yes, we are. So many in our military ranks are much better than a lot of this country deserves. I'm still stunned that something like this was allowed to happen.
Thank you for this forum, Jim!
The Sharratt Family.
I am thrilled that Justin will be cleared. I understand your justifiable bitterness about the way this was handled. Be well my FRiend and much luck to you and yours.
I’m sure you must be relieved but saddened by the whole ordeal.
No mention by Bill O’Reily? Lacrosse players get lots of air time for being exonerated but I haven’t heard any mention of the Marines.
Let’s also continue to pray and support Lt Col Chessani
bump to the top
“will be exonerated of the charges”
Incredibly excellent news!!!!!!!!
May God bess you and keep you. May America celebrate and keep in our memory forever what your son and your family have done, in faith, in honor, and in defense of our freedom.
Thank you.
Amen to that!
SoCal Freepers can show your support tomorrow, at 1 pm, for a rally at the main gate of Camp Pendleton!
