It wasn't an insult. What would be an insult is using a fabricated legal citation because you can't let go of an arguement. So... get back to me with the citation in Immigration law for "self-petitioning" that lawyers for military enlistee wantabees use to file for residence. Take as long as you like... I'll check back on FR tommorrow.

(Don't bother citing asylum, lottery visas, abused spouses or others that clearly can not be applied here. I'm looking for reality.)

I never thought I would see it like this here.

Maybe it’s because you never thought you would see Bush, like this???

To blame the teacher’s unions, and trial lawyers for healthcare and education costs ignores half of the picture, especially in areas where there is an extremely large illegal alien population.

So it's the toilet cleaners fault and not the teacher unions or trial lawyers fault.

A question, which would solve the health and education mess better, getting rid of people who are greatful to do menial jobs, or those who sponge off the system such as teacher unions and trial lawyers.

And BTW, there is an ethnic component to this, since the teacher unions and trial lawyers are what I would consider your preferred skin hue, while the immigrants are not.

I identify wholeheartedly with your post. Although I would include crazy spending in there too, and pushing Israel to make concessions for nothing in return. I was a real fan during his first administration, but wow, am I confused and cranky now, esp. over this immigration bill and Washington’s total disregard for the will of the people.

Thankful for the SCOTUS appts though, and the tax cuts. Such a mixed bag! :)

“Fascinating reconstruction of recent history.”

Reconstruction? Its a Restoration. What is a lie there?

“Bush never cracked down on the border and it was never a major campaign argument for him.

It was not part of his agenda.”

Uhh. You get elected President of the United States and millions of illegal aliens are pouring across your border, aided and abetted by a neighboring nation during a war against international terrorists and its not your business?

I agree the problem has been going on for some time and didn’t start with Bush, but it was EXACCERBATED by Bush and increased in intensity during his administration and despite the fact that this problem was brought to the fore by the media AND his base, he ignored it. More than ignoring it, he actively encouraged it.

“It is the border bots who are being disingenuous. Why did you not kick him out in 2004?”

With who? That idiot Kerry???

“Did Bush really change his stripes in 2004 or did border bots just decide to fly into the convenient rage of the time?”

Border bots?? How about just plain enraged Americans. It was only after 2004 that the extent of Bush’s damage on this front became apparent. It was only recently that his treachery and arrogance on Amnesty and his rent-a-slave program became manifest.

“Conservatism is on the rise so Buchannanites after 2004 decided it was time to return to their failed policies of the 1990s. The reactionary nativists of the 1990s fought NAFTA tooth and nail and lost. Now they want their payback.”

I’m not a atavist. I LIKE “immigrants”. Immigrants are good for America. But “immigrants” are NOT border sneaks, line jumpers, illegal invaders and illegal aliens. Legally naturalized Americans and legal resident aliens have just as much anger at this President and his policies as I do. Talk to some of them. NAFTA apparently FAILED.

If it worked, these Mexicans wouldn;t be pouring into America looking for jobs. Thanks to NAFTA, our good “friends” and trading “partners” the Red Chinese, will soon be importing cars into America - from Mexico.

“Now we have to read extended reasons why Ron Paul is a good candidate when he is in fact an idiot.”

I don’t agree with Paul on foreign policy. I’m not an isolationist. Unfortunately, isolationism is not possible in the modern world. But that doesn’t mean we have to surrender our borders, our language, our culture and our national identity so a bunch of globalist internationalists can make a bigger profit at the expense and safety of American citizens.

Stop making sense or the President Bush haters are going to get outraged. Course they walk around in a constant state of outrage anyway.

They think all of America is worried that Paco working in the carwash is destroying the Country. The rest of America could care less.

Seems freerepublic is fast becoming the new hate Bush website

...and I suppose something has to be done about that too, right? ;)

Do you also share John Edward's wife's opinions about what should be done about Ann Coulter?

Ronald Reagan had the courage of his convictions. George Bush has the convictions of his courage. As far as the what-iz-it in Iraq is concerned, Bush’s heart was never really in it – and neither were his cahones.

Sadly, true. With all of Bush's amnesty obsession, his priority does not appear to be the war against terrorism. Meanwhile, we have our sons and daughters fighting a war Bush seems no longer interested in. Bush's legacy may well be the thousands of broken and lost lives of America's best while allowing the country they're fighting for to be invaded by foreigners. Bush morality = $$$$$$ and nothing more. The enemy from within.

Since you believe that GWB is diabolical do you also believe that he is a moron? And if you do, would you have any further suggestions to make this board even more like DU?

Bush morality = $$$$$$ and nothing more. The enemy from within So now GWB is not only a moron, but a diabolical moron whose morality is motivated by money. Further, he an enemy of the country.

Wow. You'd think that this was DU.

I won’t support him on Amnesty but he has been a good President. I find the attacks on him because he disagrees with the majority of republicans on this this forum a bit repugnant and bordering on the lunacy.

What attacks are you referring to spcifically?

Simply the truism that politicians tend to focus on issues that have reached a crisis point: in 2001 the problem uppermost on people's minds was terrorism, not illegal immigration.

I'll take that as "Yes." Thanks.

There's simply no reason the border and immigration enforcement should not have occurred aside from lack of desire, which is disheartening particularly after 9/11. This lax enforcement includes those who overstayed or fraudulently obtained visas, not simply border crossers from the south.

That a Republican president would willfully push for unnecessary immigration reform (as opposed to simple enforcement of existing law) makes it even worse, particularly when one considers the astonishing number of illegal foreign nationals who will be granted amnesty, let alone the social and economic consequences of such policy.

Sorry, ignore the Freepmail, I hit the wrong button. I fully intended this to be a PUBLIC admonition...

You’re assumption of prejudice and bigotry is really something, Dane. MY OWN SISTER IS HALF-MEXICAN, you imbecile! I LOVE MY SISTER, no matter her “skin hue”, thank you very much. And, I have many friends back in Denver who are of a “Different Hue” than my own — not only of Hispanic/Latino origin, but Vietnamese, Black, you name it...

You can take your race-baiting accusations and shove it where the sun don’t shine... And if I sound angry with you, you bet I am. I am the LAST person you should accuse of bigotry and racism... I would say more, but it would get me banned...

It's quite necessary. The existing legal standards have nothing to do with current reality and hurt America's economy.

If you bothered to read my earlier posts on this thread, you would know I said he was anything but a moron. He is actually very smart. But, you would have to do the work to see what I meant.

I doubt you will.

The underlying problem that no one is talking about is the fact that Social Security is broke. Bush tried to fix it and was shut down. Now this country has to have a steady stream of immigrants to float the Ponzi schem because we have aborted almost 40 million babies since Roe v. Wade.
