A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 200,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

Welcome to Warm Fuzzy Wednesday at the Finest. For those who start counting the days on Monday until the weekend, we're halfway there! So we're here to banish those doldrums and make you smile inside! Please feel free to post sweet graphics and/or little stories that make you feel all warm and fuzzy - or just come by and give us a smile. Only two more days 'til the weekend!

Actually he is Willis Haviland Carrier, the inventor of air conditioning aka the father of cool. He should be honoured greatly on days like this. :)

Here's a Warm Fuzzy story for y'all...

Last Saturday, mrsdd and one of our SIL participated in the local Walk For Life, a cancer fundraising event. They were on one of the teams whose members agreed to walk x amount of laps or hours around the 1/4 mile track at one of our high school athletic fields.

It was a 24 hour event where participants solicited sponsors. Mrsdd walked a total of 2+ hours on Saturday morning and late afternoon. She didn't keep track of her laps, but SIL planned to walk the full 24 hours. He had to stop in the early evening because of a 2" blister on one foot. Though he fell short of his 24 hour goal, he did complete 180 + laps - that's over 45 miles he walked.

Thoughout the day and into the evening, the organizers schedule different events on stage. A lot of local singing groups and bands played.

Another event that took place was a demonstration by one of the MPD's K-9 teams. The officer would explain what his dog was doing as they worked through a number of different tactics.

One such tactic involved the hiding of a small box and the dog was sent out to search for it. When he found it, he stopped, barked several times as the officer went to retrieve what he had found.

When the officer picked up the small box, he said, "This isn't what he was supposed to find." He called out to one of the walkers on one of the teams, "Terri, could you come help me out a little bit here?" As she walked over to them, he introduced her as his girlfriend.

He then took the box, opened it, and then dropped down on one knee. His next words..., get ready, here's the warm fuzzy part... "Terri, will you marry me?"

PS...

That last K-9 part took less time than it has taken y’all to read about it, but I’ve been told I’m a good story-teller.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

That's a nicely photoshopped lemon butterfly, Maj. Very well done.

Yes, I do love lemons. Especially lemonade. Nothing like it on a hot summers day. It's 93 degrees as I type, but that is normal for central CA in June. I really do love summertime!

Hope you are having a nice day. :-)
