CONCORD, N.H. -- Convicted tax evaders Ed and Elaine Brown have gained a new supporter: presidential hopeful Ron Paul.
In an interview with RogueGovernment.com, the U.S. Representative from Texas compared the Browns to Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. He said the Browns are suffering like those leaders.
The Browns are holed up in their Plainfield, N.H., home and have threatened violence against federal officials if marshals come to arrest them. They were convicted of an elaborate scheme to hide millions of dollars in income. Their protest has become a rallying cry for anti-tax activists and militia members.
Ron Paul/Dennis Kucinich 2008—when Al Gore ain’t crazy enough for you...
On another thread, there was a debate as to whether or not to include Ron Paul in the Iowa debates this weekend. Tancredo says yes, Rudy McRomney says no, Hunter and the others haven’t decided.
For my part, I say let him speak. The more he talks, the more he shows how much of a lunatic he really is. Like Dennis Miller once said, “The great thing about freedom of speech is that it exposes the idiots for who they are.”
Ah, spread a lie enough and people will believe anything. Rep. Paul was on Cavuto yesterday afternoon and he refuted he said anything of the sort. Also if you listen to the original interview (which I doubt you have) he didn't say anything of the sort either.
Interesting the media is putting so much into defaming the good doctor isn't it? I thought he was a 'gadfly'....
Is there ANYONE who SERIOUSLY considers this guy as a legitimate contender anymore? If so, why?
Because he's the only conservative running that respects federalism, votes against tax increases, and follows the Constitution? Course considering the origins of the Republican party, I imagine some of these ideas may be foreign to you....
Is Ron Paul pandering to the convicted felon vote? ROTFLMAO!
Spare me. He’s said enough things that would remove him from serious consideration if Rudy McRomney weren’t running.
Trust me—when Fred declares in the next couple of weeks, people will be going, “Ron who?”
As another poster wisely observed, Ron Paul is to the Constitution (and conservatism) what Jim Jones was to Christianity.
You know I haven’t gotten a Ronobot yet that can explain just what makes a guy wih a 61%-39% Liberal to Conservative rating...who supports the ACLU and supports Arab Special interest groups...is anti war...and can’t even find the common sense to vote FOR an Anti Child Porn law...a “true Conservative”?
Can you do it?
Will Ron Paul support Fair Tax evaders as well?
Which is why I have always felt that people should get their checks in full, but, like employers, shell out a check every month or quarter for the state/federal taxes they owe.
Nothing generates greater outrage than having to actually scratch the check like one would with a mortgage payment or other regular bill.
I think it says something for Romney, and about the way he’d run the country that he says no, even though the guy who runs the forum also insulted him personally.
I’m just saying this as a warning, if we push Ron Paul away, it could bite us in the rear next year. I honestly think he’d have some traction as a third party candidate, especially if it appears he was unfairly “pigeonholed” by RNC leadership
Push Ron Paul away, yes. Push conservatism away, no. Big difference, that.
Withholding is a scheme that came into being during World War II.
The war provided a good excuse, eh...reason to start the practice.
I think that all the controls imposed on this country during World War II that the Dems tried to keep after the war were a force behind the GOP landslide in the 1946 congressional elections.
1% or less.
Don’t talk to me about big tax bills and New Hampshire. You ought to see the property tax rates up here, and the Dims in the Legislature want to pass an income and/or sales tax, knowing damned good and well property tax rates wouldn’t go down one single bit.
In fact, our city just “cut” programs so that we’re looking at “only” an .90 increase per $1000 assessed value next year. We’re currently paying $18.34 per $1000, so on a $250K house that’s another $235 on top of the $5K I paid this year.
Idiots.
wow, 45 minutes and no flames from the Ron Paulists?
Maybe they’re all on Texas time....
