PETA blasts Michael Moore for eating meat
MSNBC ^ | June 26, 2007 | Jeannette Walls

PETA has a message for Michael Moore: You’re the Sicko.

The animal-rights group is blasting the filmmaker as a hypocrite for criticizing the U.S. healthcare system in his new documentary, “Sicko,” because they say he’s in such poor health himself.

“There’s an elephant in the room, and it is you,” PETA president Ingrid Newkirk wrote in a letter to Moore.

Newkirk urged the rotund Moore to become a vegetarian, which many nutritionists say is a good way to lose weight, and visit PETA’s Web site GoVeg.com for veggie recipes.

Writes Newkirk: “As they say at Nike (sorry!): ‘Just do it.”

Just a wild guess here, but I think 'Mikey' eats everything that's put in front of him.

He likes it - All! Hey Mikey!

"I just don't get it. What's with PETA suddenly attacks Michael Moore?"

It's the only way they have of trying to maintain relevance. Notice that anytime there's a highly visible controversy (i.e. Moore's "Sicko) PETA will glom onto the opportunity and chime in with the hopes of being noticed. It's pretty much SOP with them.

PETA should also go after Michael Vick. I feel sick after reading of those dog fights.

Speaking of elephants (and hippos), they’re vegetarians and not exactly svelte.

LOL, we fed ours scraps too but mostly hog feed and shelled corn, especially close to killin’ time. :-) I drew the line at feeding rotten “slop” like a lot of farmers did. I couldn’t see me eating something that ate that stuff. Yuck!

PETA has its uses, even if that use is limited to “the enemy of mine enemy is my friend”. I have no time for people involved in dog fighting. It is an ugly sport that would require an ugly human soul to engage in it. If PETA is opposed to dog fighting, then at least on that single issue we can agree.

“Moore’s one of the few people in the world who could survive being lost for weeks in the wilderness by utilizing self-cannabalism.”

He got lost in the woods once, you know.

Nothing to eat for a week except what he could pick out of his teeth.

When they found him, he’d gained six pounds...

Reminds me of when Code Pink was protesting at Nancy Pelosi’s office. I just love it.

He’s the elephant in the room? Gosh, who’d have thought that PETA had no class?
