Highlighting this excerpt:

*************************************

Phares:

My colleagues' multiple remarks are right on target, even though they come from different angles and cover distinct issues of analysis. Daveed's interpretation of the new Jihadi leaders' "concerns with an international image," is accurate. One can see that coming from the center of al Qaeda headquarters: there is a rising insistence on the "image."

************************snip*****************************

My other remark here is about our global perception of the Jihadist strategies. I believe that they aggregate under two large trees: One, the Salafist, incorporates al Qaeda, its branches, allies, Wahabi clerics, Muslim Brotherhood strategists and to some extent Jihadi groups with "national" strategies. This whole sphere has a solid core and multiple layers, but is not tightly integrated: it hurdle towards the main historical objectives, not always in harmony. The other tree, is the Khomeinist regime in Iran with its extensions such as Hizbollah in Lebanon, other funded organizations and a state-to-state alliance with the Syrian regime. The Khomeinist sphere is extremely centralized and integrated, regardless of the shades of opinions. It moves along the lines of geopolitics and with a concentrated financial backing coming from Iran's oil revenues. It is very important to keep an eye on the evolution of both "trees," and watch for convergence and diverging energies and the common threads.

The central issue for Al Qaeda is not how to kill us (they have only managed a pin prick compared to wars of the past), but how to break our will. If they manage to convince us that we can’t win, then we can’t win.

Fascinating Analysis of Leftist Goals, August 13, 2006

Reviewer: N. Sincerity - See all my reviews

A former 1960s radical, Horowitz is well-acquainted with the Leftist mindset. In this book, he strives to explain the modern alliance between left wing progressivists and radical Islamofascists. He argues that this alliance is based on a common desire to destroy Western capitalism. Leftist sympathy with Islamofascist ideas makes no sense from an intellectual point of view, given that countries ruled by radical Islamists are among the most racist, sexist, theocratic states in the world today. However, Leftists have recognized that they can benefit politically from destructive terrorist attacks on the Western world. A West under attack can be made to turn on its leaders in fear and desperation (as they did in Spain after the Madrid train bombings). Only once people reject current government structures can the Left execute its anti-capitalist revolution and build a new reality that mirrors the Leftist view of utopia.

The complete and utter idealogical hypocrisy of the Islamofascist-Leftist alliance is distressing, but as Horowitz reminds us,

Leftists radicals truly believe the ends justify the means.

You got it - And our MSM is doing all it can to help facilitate these enemies.

It is mind-numbing just how agenda driven the MSM of today is. How facts and context to events mean absolutely nothing. Pushing the template of their political agendas means everything....regardless of national security. F'ing odd.

We continue on the whole to be extremely successful in this WOT. In beginning the process of dragging the ME out of the dark ages.....We kick AQs as$es time and again on the front lines......Yet we have to date forfeited the PR side of this WOT to them (and to the MSM).

Thing of it is, I want to know what’s going on in this war...good and bad. I had some problems with my phoneline last week and had to rely on the MSM to find out what’s going on. Needless to say we’re doomed doomed doomed there is no way we can stop the mighty juggernaut of Islamic terror that is sweeping the world, by next Tuesday (at the latest) Iraq will be under the control of al qaeda and/or Iran.

One thing left out of their equations is the fact that more Islamist states are backing off, and at this point realizing Islam is bad for business. As the official governments/monarchies/dictatorships continue to work with the west in the GWOT, receive more aid, etc., they are to at least some level, countering some of the crap Syria and Iran is trying to pull off.
Jordan, Egypt the Arab Emirites, Saudi Arabia, Moracco, etc., are serious about doing away with the Islamofacist groups, because they are mostly a threat to these state leaders.
Most of the ME countries other then Syria fear Iran, for the many things I could site, but we all are aware of at this point.
So we must play a balancing act. Obviously strong leadership in the US and other western nations that are willing a long term battle against the Islamos is the only hope of putting many of them on the back burner. Same goes to a large extent with China and Russia. They have had their own problems with the goons squads.
If the dimwits win the POTUS in 2008, we can kiss off any gains we have made. The L/MSM may make it look like the ME leaders would like to see a dimwit take over, but I betcha a Coors Extra Gold Lager, that most of these countries at state level would love to see say a Duncan Hunter get elected.
They realize the stakes are great. They need the US to help them rid their countries of radical Islam. And they WANT and NEED our money.
