Okay, you agree with him on immigration. I don’t like the current immigration policies either and I’d pointed out that it would be a really good idea to approach this problem from another angle, by cutting off government funding and completing welfare reform for real. Welfare is a disaster and now would be the time that we could do it.

I don’t have a problem with immigrants who follow the legal process correctly coming from wherever. What you miss is the free health care and benefits. Would there be as many if it were sink or swim, figuratively speaking? I think the numbers would be vastly different and we’d get people who wanted to work and who wanted to be Americans.

I do disagree with you on Balkanization, but if the government continues to pay people not to work and get free health care then we will get more of it.

But instead we fight an old battle and expect different results.

Amnesty fails. Border enforcement does too. Even if the President would pursue capture aggressively, a president cannot make the courts follow the law and the states will continue to bend over backwards to give benefits to illegals if they are available to US citizens.

I find Buchanan abhorrent on Israel and I am not the only conservative who sees him that way.

As for your last comment about level playing field, shouldn’t the focus be how much businesses are taxed in the US and what unreasonable laws and restraints are placed on them? The EU, China and Russia will continue to trade with each other and some may or may not trade with North Korea and/or Iran. This is not the same environment in which containment could work. How does the US stop France from trade with a rogue regime, other than to call up Sarkozy and arrange for a meeting?

I don’t believe that government creates a level playing field, even when it wants to.

No, you are not. I've almost come to think that there is an anti-semitic gene. There simply is no good reason for it.

I agree with you about illegal immigrants and the welfare society.

That is why so many Africans and Kosovans are and want to come into Britain. The way the EU works it is supposed to be the first EU country they enter that sorts it either accept or deports them unfortunately many turn a blind eye and let them go straight through and they end up in Britain. Many are even given tips how to do this in their own country.

Most of the EU people that come in though want to and do work but I still wonder why some of the Brits will not do that work especially when there are many unqualified youngsters out there that are not employed that could do a lot of the jobs that the EU immigrants do do. Is it the parents, the schools the company they keep if young Poles will willingly do the job why will our youngsters not. Money is a too easy answer I believe there is a deeper reason that many of these youngsters feel the world owes them and they are not prepared to work to get it.

Also it is not just the low paid jobs that they are willing to do that the English are not many of the health care jobs go to overseas workers. I know that nurses are not over paid but they still have a living wage and doctors most certainly do get good wages yet so many of the new positions are filled by non British people.

On the other hand the illegals come for the welfare the legals come for the jobs. I still see a problem with both if it upsets the overall balance in the country and more effort needs to put into ensuring those they do come legally are encouraged and even forced to integrate into the British way of life and values.

Chr!st, were do people like you come from? Hello, there are billion $ class-action lawsuits being launched throughout the country. These civil actions have nothing to do with the criminal justice system. In addition, state/city/local legal initiatives are being established throughout the land. What's the civil liability for these representatives/agents (cops, etc) who fail to enforce these laws?

I've said it over & over again - the key to defeating illegal aliens is civil (citizen) action in the form of class-action lawsuits. Illegal immigration is all about $. Right now, the payoff accrues to facilitators; change the calculus by creating economic incentives to deport, and look how many people will get in on THAT business.
