Fraud alleged in 2004 Washington voter-registration drive

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Prosecutors in King County are looking at possible criminal charges related to a voter-registration drive held in 2006, echoing the suspicions of impropriety raised during the razor-close gubernatorial election of 2004.

King County's acting prosecutor, Dan Satterberg, is reviewing 1,829 questioned voter-registration forms turned in last year by people working for the national activist group ACORN, or the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. A decision on whether to file criminal charges is expected in late July, Satterberg's spokesman, Dan Donohoe, said Friday.

"We're dealing with possible criminal charges with regard to fraudulent registrations. No one voted from those registrations," Donohoe said. "The investigation is focusing on fewer than 10 individuals hired by ACORN."

King County elections workers who handled 1,829 registrations submitted too late to qualify for the 2006 election found them suspicious. It became clear that a handful of people filled out many forms in similar handwriting, elections spokeswoman Bobbie Egan said.

Secretary of State Sam Reed, whose handling of the 2004 election was criticized by some Republicans, has worked behind the scenes to urge "tough" action on the suspected voter-registration fraud.

Reed has avoided a public call for criminal charges in the ACORN case, and his aides initially rejected requests this week for comment. But Reed sent an e-mail to the home of then-King County Prosecuting Attorney Norm Maleng in October, telling him that ACORN's voter-registration drive needed to be investigated.

"I'm sorry to bother you at home about this, but it's very important," Reed wrote to Maleng in an e-mail from his personal address. "Many cases, like this, have been referred to Prosecutors and ignored. I'd appreciate it if you would have your office go after this. We need to show that we're tough on voter fraud. Right?"

Wrong, Sam. This DOES explain some of the Democrats' recent obsession to look into GOP email.

This is the pre-election voting fraud that went on here. Election fraud goes hand in hand with ACORN.

ACORN.... I truly HATE these people. And if they don’t prosecute them then this will just get worse.

Transalation: "Many cases, like this, have been referred to prosecutors and ignored because we have to keep up the illusion that the governor won the election fairly. I'd appreciate it if you would have your office investigate this and then sweep it under the rug. We need to show we're tough on voter fraud even though we'd like for nothing to come from this. Right? Heil Hillary!"

Yep, that and this...

We need some good examples of being touch (sic) on voter fraud to help regain some confidence and trust in the system," Reed added a day later in an official e-mail to Nick Handy, his state elections director.

I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for aggressive prosecution. Democrats are above the law.

King County Prosecutors are looking at it? A little late, aren’t they? Many of us were complaining about much of this 3 years ago.

Be prepared for another snow job.

The ‘RATs are by far the most corrupt and depraved of the two major parties..... (though the current shamnesty push is making me begin to think there’s really not so much difference.....).

The ‘RATs have the Dept. of Justice under vicious assault BECAUSE they want to head off all possibility of investigation and action against the vote frauds and other forms of ‘RAT corruption. They know that by keeping the RINOs in their pocket and keeping the DOJ on the defensive and in disarray it will be far less likely that anyone on the federal level will dare to look into ‘RAT misdeeds.

They truly are ruthless and vicious punks, rotting from the head (Clintonistas) on down.

It is very difficult to take anything that comes from "King" County too seriously. Especially when one considers this:

History
The county was formed out of territory within Thurston County on December 22, 1852, by the Oregon Territory legislature, and was named after Alabama resident William Rufus King, vice president under president Franklin Pierce. Seattle was made the county seat on January 11, 1853.[1][2]
King County originally extended to the Olympic Peninsula. According to historian Bill Speidel, when peninsular prohibitionists threatened to shut down Seattle's saloons, Doc Maynard engineered a peninsular independence movement; King County lost what is now Kitsap County, but preserved its entertainment industry.[1].
County logo, 1969-2007On February 24, 1986, the King County Council passed Council Motion 6461, "setting forth the historical basis for the 'renaming' of King County in honor of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.". Because only the state can charter counties, this change was not made official until April 19, 2005, when Washington Governor Christine Gregoire signed Senate Bill 5332 into law. Due primarily to the advocacy of councilmember Larry Gossett, the County Council voted on February 27, 2006 to change the county's logo from a royal crown to an image of King's face.[3] This change was estimated to cost $522,255. On March 12, 2007, the new logo was unveiled.[4]

Typical democrats, symbolism before substance.

They haven’t and won’t. It already is. And it’s getting much, much, much worse. And it’s only just starting, B.

ACORN receives some of its funding from Catholic Charities!

National grants went to: Contra Costa ACORN Violence Reduction and Youth Activities, in Concord, $25,000; Just Cause Housing and Jobs for Low-Income Residents in Oakland, $10,000; La Lucha del Journalero Leadership Development for Day Labors in Oakland, $35,000; and Oakland ACORN Slumlord Abatement and School Improvement, $35,000.

Democrats must doggedly hang onto every means possible to maintain potential voter fraud. It is their only hope to win national elections.

Democrats would allow non-citizens to vote because in most cases illegal aliens have a friend in the Democrats.

With the advent of advanced high-tech voting computers the possible of cyber vote fraud is greatly increased. Perhaps we should go back to the old days of voting by paper ballots placed in a box under the watchful eyes of precinct guards.

There is an old joke that has come to pass: Question; “Is there a vote after death?” Answer: “Yes, be buried in Cook County.” (Chicago IL)

It's another page out of the RAT Play Book. Don't do anything for three years and then say that "these are old accusations that have already been refuted and are just being dredged up again for political reasons" or the old standby "the American public is tired of hearing about these three year old charges", not to forget the classic "let's just move on".

I've since moved but the teacher's union was found guilty of all kinds of election law violations every single election I lived in Washington state. Every single freakin' election, but all they got was a slap on the wrist after the election was over and the deed was done.
