This is classic. You can't forget this one...

from Enosh: The folks who "never had a shot", as it were, get judged by their deeds

DanielLongo: "But you said it wasn't about "works".

Enosh: For Christians, it's not. We have no part in Judgment Day, we'll already have been resurrected. Revelation 20:4-6 For the rest, the "sheep" and the "goats", they get Revelation 20:11-15. Good luck with that.

Just when you think the post is getting dull. LOL. Enosh always comes through for you. Zoram would be proud.

Is there something you disagree with in Rev. 20? I don’t see your argument.

Enosh does appear to represent a significant portion of Orthodox Christianity in his position.

I’ve actually read commentary - which was agreed to by several participants on this thread - that essentially stated that law is for those who have not been saved through their faith.

In other words, many Orthodox Christians appear to believe that all a person has to do to enter Heaven is to have faith in Christ’s atonement. No other action is required - evidently not even obedience to the commandments that have been given by Christ.

Where the logic breaks down is this: I have faith in Christ’s atonement. By their definition, I am saved, no matter what I do, as long as I have that faith. Yet, I am a Mormon; therefore, I am not saved, because I follow heresies.

So, which is it? Am I saved by faith, just like them, despite my “good works?” Or am I damned by my heresies? The two assertions are mutually exclusive, and I invite any Orthodox Christian to explain the apparent contradiction. I have done so in the past, and am yet to receive an answer.

We have no part in Judgment Day, we'll already have been resurrected.

I think you are confused...

The first instance of the Book of Life is here:

 Psalms 69:27-28
 27.  Charge them with crime upon crime; do not let them share in your salvation.
 28.  May they be blotted out of the book of life and not be listed with the righteous.

Next, Jesus says THIS to His discioples:

Luke 10:20
However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."

In refering to BELIEVERS, Book of Life is further mentioned here:

  Philippians 4:3
Yes, and I ask you, loyal yokefellow, help these women who have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.

Finally, John reveals the BoL here:

Revelation 3:5
He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels.

Revelation 13:8
All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast--all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world.

Revelation 17:8
The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and will come up out of the Abyss and go to his destruction. The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because he once was, now is not, and yet will come.

And now the judgement; of ALL mankind...

Revelation 20:11-15
 11.  Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them.
 12.  And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.
 13.  The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done.
 14.  Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.
 15.  If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

  Revelation 21:27
Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Bottom line:

If you are 'saved' your name is IN THE BOOK, which is used to judge.

If, as you say, "We have no part in Judgment Day, we'll already have been resurrected.", then WHY is the BoL used at this judgement?
