I thought I answered your question clearly. If I am striving in my life to be obedient to Christ’s teachings, then the answer is yes.
The reason is that good works (obedience to Christ’s teachings) are a means to faith; faith is the principle that saves. Remove good works, remove faith. Remove faith, remove salvation.
Am I currently striving to be obedient to Christ’s teachings? Well, that’s between God and me.
~”What do mormons today think about the wacky stuff like
that, which its leaders have said?”~
Generally, the “wacky stuff” that we are accused of is untrue or twisted to fit an agenda, so we naturally don’t think much of it.
As for the remaining “wacky stuff” that is accurate to what we believe, we own it. Ask me about it sometime; I’ll talk about it without shame.
The only “substance” I care about at this point is Jesus Christ and Him crucified to save the whole world and that includes me and you.
I don’t like to read all the vile comments about my faith and my Church but I can’t stop you. Have at it. Free country.
But know this: You will only cause my faith to grow stronger. I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love my Church. I love my Savior.
You are most welcome, I do what I can. Works you know.

I believe ampu's error lies in that he confuses "belief" with "faith" while they are not the same.
Thank you for being a good example, FReeper pal. I am grateful for your testimony.
You are so funny.
Wow! You are God Almighty in the flesh. You know who’s going to hell and who’s not.
The LDS do not disagree one does not have to do works to be SAVED!
But the LDS do believe we must allow the Lord to edify us and we exercise to strengthen our abilities that Lord gave us by obeying his commandments by doing the Lords work in righteousness and that is only achieved when we are in the spirit of the Lord.
The Spirit of the Lord is something you cant always see, or smell or taste when doing his will, but will feel the warmth of the Lord when a job well done!

Sounds good to me. I'm with you on this one.
LOL! I should have known someone thought of that before me.
Enosh does appear to represent a significant portion of Orthodox Christianity in his position.
I’ve actually read commentary - which was agreed to by several participants on this thread - that essentially stated that law is for those who have not been saved through their faith.
In other words, many Orthodox Christians appear to believe that all a person has to do to enter Heaven is to have faith in Christ’s atonement. No other action is required - evidently not even obedience to the commandments that have been given by Christ.
Where the logic breaks down is this: I have faith in Christ’s atonement. By their definition, I am saved, no matter what I do, as long as I have that faith. Yet, I am a Mormon; therefore, I am not saved, because I follow heresies.
So, which is it? Am I saved by faith, just like them, despite my “good works?” Or am I damned by my heresies? The two assertions are mutually exclusive, and I invite any Orthodox Christian to explain the apparent contradiction. I have done so in the past, and am yet to receive an answer.
Enjoy Hell.
Excuse him, he must only be about 16 or 17 when He is 25 or 30, his head full mush should be developed!
I might just add that we cannot perform any work of ourselves that would bring us salvation. It is only through Christ that we may receive such. However, Christ having purchased us, it is also His will and His prerogative to set the terms of our debt that He now owns. He has commanded us to do many things. There are principles, ordinances and covenants that we must receive and enter into to be acceptable before Him and to enter into His kingdom and into His presence. Faith, repentance, baptism, and the reception of the Holy Ghost are among them.
~”Show me one place where I ever claimed to be Catholic.”~
You did tell me on this thread that you consider yourself “99% Catholic.”
It seemed apparent to me from this statement that you were saying you were Catholic, with a couple of Evangelical viewpoints. Evidently, my conclusion was wrong.
You may want to modify your descriptions of yourself if you want to prevent people from coming to false conclusions about your religious affiliation.
