Which Fred is Running for President?
GreatMindsThinkRight ^ | 6/21/07 | JB Williams

I probably know more about Fred Thompson than any other candidate, which is why I worked with my reader base to help draft Fred into the ‘08 Presidential race. But that doesn’t mean that an honest concerned American doesn’t need to ask the right questions before climbing fully onboard any political train today.

If Jesus Christ himself were running today, we’d have to ask the same questions in light of today’s deception and corruption filled arena of national politics, especially if Jesus is now a member of CFR. So, though I’m thrilled that Fred Thompson has answered the people’s call to run, I’m still waiting to see which Fred is going to run.

I am not chiding him. I wish him the best and will vote for him should he win the nomination. This is a question that will come up.

That’s because you posted half-truths out of context and everyone here knows it. Where I come from, that isn’t evidence, it’s assertions, rhetoric, heated lies intended to solicit heated response, not honest debate.

A lie doesn’t become true just because you’re willing to repeat it.

His voting record is public and that record is as solidly conservative as anyone’s, more conservative than most candidates.

Your efforts to mislead others about that record is deplorable and a blot on the Hunter campaign...

Find a candidate with no connection to CFR and I’ll show you a candidate who can’t win dog-cather...

Let’s conveniently leave out Zach Wamp and scores of other great conservatives.

Wow, that info on Hunter’s voting record etc. is news to me. (Mostly because I’m staying off the other candidates threads except for Fred, for the summer)

But thanks for the info, I’m booking marking that.

I just don’t get the rancor that consumes Hunter supporters on Fred threads, especially when their candidate is doing so poorly at this point in the polls. At least the Romney supporters have some traction to stand on......for now.

Talk about going down with the ship....

“That’s not true. We were going to the “Rudy” threads and posting negative factual information about him—with evidence.”

I find this comment interesting. So it is your intention to get FR pared down to members who only support Duncan Hunter? I like Hunter, but you may end up talking to yourself.

Well, the way I see it is that evil will rejoice when the unborn is murdered, evil will rejoice when I do not have the right to protect myself, and evil will rejoice when God has been removed from public view. I don't know if the average mind sees it this way. So, I pray to be the Conservative who protects the unborn, protects the 2nd Amendment, and protects God in public view.

The Lord knows my heart, which you can not discern.

My main question is: where is his team? Where will he get a good Secretary of Defense, a reliable Attorney General? What will his Chief of Staff be like?

You are not just voting for him, you are voting for the people he knows and could bring into an administration.

Your talking about "shadow cabinets" or "shadow government" (its just a phrase, it does not mean anything negative). The concept is more common in parlimentary democracies, though I have always wished to see it brought to the US in terms of campaigns.

Though the possibility is slim, it allows a candidate to many targets to hit and to many vulnerablities to attack. I.E. run mud slinging campaigns on everybody to drag down the initial candidate.

I didn’t realize Hunter had protectionist leanings. He isn’t anti-trade, but I wouldn’t call him pro-free trade.

ALL “think tanks” play “shadow government”. That’s the sole purpose of a “think tank”...

You should call anyone wanting to fence themselves in and cut themselves off the fair free international trade an “isolationist”...

Isolationism became an unrealistic foriegn policy with the invention of the telephone.

The world is very small now. To think that one can simply fence it out or let it be is suicidal.

Um, no, its not.

I think ya got the concept a little off. Shadow government (I really do hate that name) would be better termed mirror government (but thats not the name used).

Its simple, Candidate A has someone who would be his AG, his AG actually goes on TV, and everyone knows this guy will be AG if the candidate A wins, Candidate B does the same thing, with their own guy as the wannabe AG.

It would like John Kerry using Gephardt as a designated Secretary of Labor, everyone knows he would be named, and Gephardt campaigns (to some extent) for Kerry and himself, against whomever the incumbent labor sec is or would be (whom would also be designated).

Think Tanks do nothing even remotely like that. Thats why they are think tanks and not shadow govs.

Please, please PLEASE stop with the Duncan Hunter for President posts. He can't muster up more than 1% in any polls of GOPers, almost a year after announcing his candidacy

As a GOP congressman, he's awesome. As a candidate, he's a complete DUD. Enough already

NO ONE will even consider Hunter for VP... Never, not even a fleeting thought. He adds NOTHING to the ticket. ZERO. You’re all just pipe-dreaming.
