Isolationism became an unrealistic foriegn policy with the invention of the telephone.
The world is very small now. To think that one can simply fence it out or let it be is suicidal.
I don't think Hunter is an isolationist. I didn't realize though, is that he has strong protectionist leanings, he doesn't seem totally opposed to free trade, but he does seem to be mostly against it.
Then again, it could be a nuanced position, but on free trade, I'm not that farmiliar with Hunter, I had assumed he was pro-free trade.
