Backed by Russia, Serbia calls on West to abandon Kosovo draft

Belgrade - Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica Thursday called on Western powers to withdraw the latest UN draft resolution paving the way for Kosovo's independence. Kostunica again pointed to Russia's support which Belgrade has had in its bid to block the formal separation of what only nominally remains Serbia's province with an Albanian majority.

"Owing to Russia's principled position, it is clear that a resolution blatantly violating the most basic principles of international law," he said in a statement.

The draft tabled by US, Great Britain and France, proposed a 120- day delay for a new round of talks of Belgrade, representing Serbia and Kosovo Serbs, and Pristina, representing the Albanians, who make up 90 per cent of the population and want independence quickly.

Serbia flatly rejected the draft because it envisaged independence for Kosovo after the proposed period in case of the almost certain failure of the talks.

Serbs and Albanians already negotiated through much of 2006, without any result.

Those talks ended with the UN mediator, the Finnish diplomat Martti Ahtisaari, proposing internationally supervised independence for Kosovo - but his document never made it to the UN Security Council owing to Russia's surprisingly strong opposition.

...the Albanians, who make up 90 per cent of the population following a decades-long terror campaign which ethnically cleansed virtually all other ethnic groups from the province...

There, fixed that for 'em.

I would have loved to have been the guy who woke up Clinton to inform him that the Russians were encamped in Pristina.

And that is also the day in 1914 that the Archduke Ferdinand decided humiliate Serbs by parading through Austria's imperial possession, Bosnia Herzegovina, and wound up getting killed -- thus beginning WWI!

Is this a stupid choice of dates or what???!!!

>>>>>Is this a stupid choice of dates or what???!!!<<<<<<

No, it is not stupid chice, it is the stupid choosing dates.

Somebody told those idiots that Serbs have a good historical memory and they decided to play with it:

For example, Islamic Bosnia was recognised by EU April 6, 1992, the anniversary of Hitler's attack on Yugoslavia.

Nice tip of a hat salute to the Father of EU.

I have somewhere the whole list.

The catch? It does not work. Collectiver memory of intelligent people doesn't work on Pavlov's principle.

The only thing they are showing is their criminal intent.

Take for example sending Milo to The Hague on St. Vitus Day. Those who did it were instantly equated to Brankovich traitors, even by people who despised Milo.

American psi op toward Serbs is even more laughable. It was modelled for people with Florida temperature IQ, not for people who are on the highest percentile of Mensa tests.

All this dirty tricks only harden Serb resolve to hold on their property.

The way the US and Europe (not all) are behaving in this mess and what happened in East Timor are remarkable.

After Indonesia invaded East Timor the Christians there rebelled for years and after many atrocities committed by the Muslim Indonesians East timor was finally granted independence a few years back.

The reason for supporting Indonesia at the time was that it was “pro west” and there was a fear of communist penetration in east timor even though Portugal was a founding member of NATIO and supported independence of E Timor. And again the evil hands of Kissinger lurk behind this.

In the case of the terrorists in Kosovo we have a similar scenario playing itself out: they claim to be the (”pro west”) indonesians and the the role of the Timorese are the original inhabitants of Kosovo - the Serbs and our allies in every war in the 20th century!

This President should not repeat the same mistakes made in the Indonesian Timorese case.

Good analysis. The Serbs revolted in 1941 when their King kow towed to Hitler. In retaliation, Hitler killed thousands bombing Belgrade. The Serbs and other Yugoslavs fought on as partisans during the war. Slick was deluded into visions of genocide in Bosnia, that did not pan out in Kosovo. I don’t know what the solution is in Kosovo, but it is not independence. It independence is the answer, then how about independence for Wales, Scotland, Basque areas, Catalonia, Corsica, Akbhazia and for that matter Chechnya.

Independence is out of the question for the KLA terror regime.

That would lead to a catastrophe for the region and more generally in Europe.

The fact that certain toadies are begging former commie KLA terrorists to remain calm demonstrates the sinister nature of this process.

Hey stupid State department—the Albanian Communists are for this travesty plan most definitely. That should tell you something idiots!
