Pair told not to name son '4real'

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) -- New Zealand authorities have blocked a couple's bid to officially name their new son "4real," saying numerals are not allowed.

Pat and Sheena Wheaton said they decided to name their new baby "4real" shortly after having an ultrasound and being struck by the reality of his impending arrival.

"For most of us, when we try to figure out what our names mean, we have to look it up in a babies book and ... there's no direct link between the meaning and the name," Pat Wheaton told TV One on Wednesday. "With this name, everyone knows what it means."

It’s sad when siblings breed.

Agreed completely. If the world’s still spinning 150 years from now, and people are naming kids things like “4before12Q”, we’re gonna look pretty stupid.

If the parents will change their first name to ID10T, then I’ll go along with them.

“I saw a girl named “Latrina” working at Cold Stone.”

Her father “Sh*t” and mother “House” must be so proud of their little honey bucket.

A woman walks into the downtown welfare office, trailed by 15 kids...
“WOW,” the social worker exclaims,”are they ALL YOURS???”
“Yep they are all mine,” the flustered momma sighs, having heard that question a
thousand times before. She says, “Sit
down Leroy.”
All the children rush to find seats.
“Well,” says the social worker, “then you must be here to sign up.
I’ll need all your children’s names.”
“This one’s my oldest - he is Leroy.”
“OK, and who’s next?”
“Well, this one he is Leroy, also.”
The social worker raises an eyebrow but continues. One by one, through the
oldest four, all boys, all named Leroy.

Then she is introduced to the eldest girl, named Leighroy!
“All right,” says the caseworker. “I’m seeing a pattern here.
Are they ALL named Leroy?”
Their Momma replied,! “Well, yes-it makes it easier. When it is Time to get them
out of bed and ready for school, I yell, ‘Leroy!’
An’when it’s t ime for dinner, I just yell ‘Leroy!’ an’ they all comes arunnin.’
An’ if I need to stop the kid who’s running into the street, I just yell ‘Leroy’
and all of them stop.

It’s the smartest idea I ever had, namin’ them all Leroy.”

The social worker thinks this over for a bit, then wrinkles her Forehead and
says tentatively, “But what if you just want ONE
kid to come, and not the whole bunch?”

“I call them by their last names.

First it was Frank Zappa naming his kids all of those goofy names. What cracks me up now are all of these phony African names that parents are now giving their kids.

In Italy it's common to find people named "Primo" and "Secundo" -- First and Second, after their birth order. The custom goes back to the Romans. The name "Quentin" is a variant of "Quintus" -- Fifth. Very rarely you can meet a Tertius, Sixtus, or Septimus.

There are also people who are heavily in to math who've worked a number in to their name: Bo3b Johnson, Stanley Marsh 3, Nancy 3. Hoffman, and of course, 50 Cent and 2Pac.

Then there's engineer Jon Blake Cusack who named his son Jon Blake Cusack 2.0, and singer Eryka Badu whose child (boy or girl, I don't know) is named Seven (which might be convienient in second or third grade, but could be a burden later on).

There's a lot of Suzans out there.

Was it their parents' idea or something they picked on their own?

Speaking of Italy...

There is a couple who I know that are devout practicing Catholics. They have 8 children. All of them are named for saints. I have no problem with this except the last one born - a boy - about a year ago was not named something typically Christian like John or Matthew or Stephen. Not even something that pushes the edge of acceptance like Sylvester or Sebastian.

They named the boy Pio.

That would be after a very saintly man, Padre Pio from Pietrelcina, a city in Italy.

Rough. Luckily they homeschool. Still, everytime I see them I say to myself "Pio!?"

I've suggested to my sister that she name her little girl to be - Manchester. She's not sure about it but she's considering. What do you think?
"Clever. Like being named Pittsburg or Schenectady. Kid'll grow up to be beaten to death by Liverpool fans."

ROTFLMAO - great link!

Apparently it’s common... I’ve only met a few other Susan’s in my lifetime and they always spell it the same way... I’ve never met a Suzan?? *shrug*

Susan a very unassuming and pretty name, and most importantly, it’s normal.

Parents who want to name their kids something “unique” should be forced to go down to the SS office and change their own name to something atrocious.
