Federal officials raided Iridium Industries in East Stroudsburg on Tuesday, arresting 81 workers they say are illegal immigrants from Indonesia, Mexico, Malaysia and Equador.

Ernestine Fobbs, public affairs officer for Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Washington, D.C., said the 81 alleged illegal aliens were taken into custody after interviews determined they did not have proper documentation to work in the United States.

Time to put the business owners in jail as a lesson to others. Only then will it stop.

“These are jobs that could be going to Americans.”

In my neck of the woods, people are falling all over themselves for $9.00/hr factory jobs.

These are NOT jobs Americans won’t do

First we better pass legislation that prevents LaRaza from suing employers who take the time to ask & check immigration status. Large industial concerns like Tyson Foods might do this intentionally, but a small-to-medium size manufacturing business might be afraid of being sued out of business just for asking.

From what I understand, the illegals were provided by a temp agency . Therefore the company they work for is off the hook.

The temp company , if fined , will declare they are bankrupt and open another company under another name . The illegals supposedly were taken to York, Pa. where they are jailed and have to go to trial . How much $$$ does that cost the taxpayers ?? This happened yesterday morning and was not published till this afternoon .

Good! I’m about 25 miles from E.Stroudsburg. Here in NW NJ we are suddenly being over run with illegals. Hackettstown NJ, a sanctuary town going down the tubes...fast.

Can you point to any incidents of this actually happening?

I think mandatory jail time plus a very large fine would be better. Billboards all over the place with mug shot pictures of the employers and the years to serve and fine under each picture. "I HIRED ILLEGALS AND GOT COUGHT"!

You couldn’t pay enough to work in a plastics plant with those nasty chemicals. This is one job that should be kept exclusively for illegal aliens

Mfrs have replaced Americans with Illegal Alien Workers: According to the Census Bureau, 14.3 percent of illegals (2-3 MILLION) work in manufacturing. Yet, manufacturing has lost more than 2 million jobs since 2000, with more jobs lost every month. Hordes of American citizens would love to regain factory employment, as they have not been able to find comparably rewarding jobs elsewhere; but illegals have been hired in their place. Most illegals are in the low-end of the labor pool, where unemployment is higher than average and wages are declining, the opposite of what would happen in a market with a shortage. Even in the economy as a whole, REAL WAGES for 93 million nonsupervisory, private sector workers FELL AGAIN in April.

EEOC on National origin. Title VII prohibits discrimination on the basis of national origin. Not only are employers prohibited from asking applicants where they were born, but they are also prohibited from asking where an applicant's parents were born or what an applicant's native language is. Instead, employers should ask applicants if they are eligible to work in the United States. If it is essential for persons holding a particular job to speak or write in English, applicants may be further asked if they can do so. Certain high-security positions may legally require U.S. citizenship.

Employers are at the mercy of the truthfulness of the job applicant. This is a huge loophole.

“Is this another “show” roundup?”

And they’ll be many more in coming months. Chertoff was on Rush today saying (and lying) “ it’s impossible job. Even if we were to arrest 1000 illegals a week, that would only be 52 thousand a yr” (a drop in the proverbial bucket) Making further excuses for DHS.
