Fox, CBS Ban Pig 'Condom' Ad
The Fox and CBS networks have both declined to air an ad for Trojan condoms that features cellphone-carrying pigs on the prowl.
The ad depicts women in a bar surrounded by cellphone-toting pigs. One of the swine heads off to the mens room where it obtains a condom from a vending machine and "is transformed into a head-turner in his 20s, The New York Times reports. "When he returns to the bar, a fetching blonde who had been indifferent now smiles at him invitingly.
The commercial is part of a new ad campaign by Trojan called "evolve. The message: "Evolve. Use a condom every time.
In rejecting the ad, Fox sent a written response to Trojan that read: "Contraceptive advertising must stress health-related uses rather than the prevention of pregnancy.
CBS wrote that it did not find the ad "appropriate for our network even with late-night-only restrictions.
The commercial will air on ABC, NBC, and nine cable networks, as well as in magazines and on Web sites.
Allah will not be pleased.
>> “Only if it’s a male, right? All females with a sex drive are sluts and whores, right? Just trying to get your sense of logic.” <<
No, what I said is that a healthy sex drive, RESTRAINED BY A SENSE OF MORALITY is a blessed thing. As opposed to comsummating an out-of-control sex drive within minutes of meeting a stranger.
>> “The girl in the bar only smiled at the guy” ... Nothing but venue, as there is no way she saw the condom and it’s presence doesn’t even come into play.<<
It was a CONDOM commercial. Have you no concept of suggestion? The advertisement only SHOWED her smiling, because it would have run to long and been TOO objectionable if they showed them having sex. But since it was a CONDOM ad, the intent of the smile could safely be inferred.
In an ad against drunk driving, they show the keys being passed to a driver, you don’t need to see the guy being driven home, you just know it happened. You also don’t need to presume that every time you see keys being handed from one person to another, someone’s been trying to drive drunk. It’s all in the context.
Likewise, no-one needs to say she’s going straight home with him; the context makes it clear. Does that mean that every woman who smiles at a guy in a bar is going straight home with that guy? Of course not!
Is there a double standard for men being expressed by Chuckles or I? Well, I can’t speak for Chuckles, but I have no reason from his comments on this thread to suppose he is a sexist. The comparison he draws is that she becomes as the guy already is. If becoming a pig is being a slut, he is already a slut.
Again, I’ll go further than Chuckles and get MYSELF in trouble: A great many men have always been pigs, sexually, for seeking after sex with no responsibility. Condoms offer women the lie that they can have sex without responsibility, and become every bit as much as a pig as the men in the bar. Except it is a lie, and odds are that sooner or later, she’s going to have to take on the tremendous responsibility of having a baby out of wedlock... or murdering the baby.
And here’s why marriage partners aren’t found in bars: most of the sensible ones have already learned that one doesn’t make the best choices in life partners while drunk. And from there the “network effect” kicks in: because most sensible people know not to shop for marriage partners in bars, most of the people in bars aren’t looking for marriage partners, so even if you don’t believe that drunk is no state to meet a marriage partner, you can still know that any given person you meet in a bar isn’t themselves looking for a marriage partner.
And just to make clear... the fact that it is more difficult for a woman to avoid responsibility does not mean it is in any way just that the responsibility fall disproportionately on a woman.
>> I am not the one using the bible as a tool of nastiness. <<
Did I EVER make any reference to the bible? And what exactly DID I say that was so nasty? That a woman looking for a spouse at a bar is barking up the wrong tree? Certainly you weren’t defending one-night stands, were you?
>> What does it matter where you meet someone? <<
It doesn’t matter where you meet them. I’ll let you catch up to my last post.
>> What does it matter where you meet someone? I know many people with flawed character who go to church. I know of many people who use the bible to be mean to others under the guise of being Christian, and I am seein it right on this very thread. Hell, i have read about hundreds of priests who have raped thousands of altarboys. <<
Again, I’ll let you catch up.
>> Yeah, there are probably better places to meeet people, but simply becuase a female is in a bar doesn’t make her a slut. <<
Are you COMPLETELY incapable of taking in information? We ALL agree with you.
>> I say this in defense of your loved ones as well, because you just may be waiting for dinner some time, and get stuck waiting in the bar. I’d hate for you to have to call your wife (assuming here, obviously, because I do not know) the names I’ve read on this thread simply because of the place she happens to be standing at any particular time. <<
If you ever see me smile at a girl who I just watched buy a condom, please do strike me over the head with a large, blunt object and rush me to a therapist’s office quickly, before I destroy my marriage.
Yeah but I’d at least save a lot of money over paying your therapy bills.
Church?
I’m usually way too hungover for church on Sunday morning.
You hit the nail on the head!
Note tagline.
“I was waiting for the girl to turn into a pig for being the obvious whore she is. Going to a bar to pick up men isnt exactly ladylike.
My exact thought.
Two people acting like animals.
Hey
I know one thing.
I will never buy Trojan condoms ever again !
Might have made a point if, when the pigs were transformed into men, the women were also transformed into cheap, painted, flea-bitten whores.
