Brings to mind the name of that old shareware video game, Duke Nukem...

He forgot the slandering whores Nancy Grace ("the only thing I want to hear about tomorrow is an indictment!"), Wendy Murphy ("these rapists probably watched CSI on TV to learn how to eliminate evidence"), and Georgia Goslee ("I still think something happened in that house").

I refuse to watch Nancy Grace and when Wendy is on an FNC segment I hit the mute, can’t stand her whining voice.

I watch morning news and Hume mostly, sometimes Gibson and BOR. That’s a lot less than I used to watch and I know what you mean.

Duke? Nuke'em!
Not literally, of course... But a salutary effect can be achieved by withholding (1) alumni contributions, (2) offspring to be 'educated', and (3) patronage of the businesses that sponsor coverage of its NCAA games on radio and TV.

Great to have Sowell weigh in on this. An excellent summary of where things stand.

If Duke wants to survive as an institution, it should implement a model program to eliminate PC thuggery from campus. If they did this, they would be a geninely superior institution, and a model for all of academia.
Of they can just double down on the PC nonsense and let it ride...

you know, short of dragging these people out of their offices and executing them in the quad (WHICH I DO NOT ADVOCATE), what can we do? Not attend Duke. Not send our children to Duke. Hire Duke graduates only with great reluctance. The actions of the faculty have called the value of the credentials offered by Duke University into serious question.

They are tenured and viruently liberal. Exactly...There is nothing that can be done to them for their despicable behavior in this incident.I don't believe there is nothing that can be done. Does anyone really believe that if the tables were turned the University would not fire or otherwise harass the professors. If the wrongly accused were blacks and the victims white and the professors did the same thing I believe Duke would have dumped them faster than you can say hate crime. There is always a way.

What do you want to bet that the University confidential settlement, announced yesterday, had a provision the the settlement closed out related suits against staff and faculty even as individuals.
These sorts of institutions take care of their ding-dong people. They actaully encourage such "Independence" of mind.

I hear you and agree that actions should be taken, they could be shunned by many but the ones that are tenured are unfireable and they know it.
Look at what Ward Churchill has done and how he has strung the process out to fire him and his offenses are clearly ones a tenured professor can and should be fired for, palgiarism for one.

Yes, that is a strong statement by Dr. Sowell but as usual, I don’t doubt him in the least.
If that column runs in the Duke campus newspaper in a full page ad it will surely shake up the powers that be, as it well should.

To: jazusamo; All
I have already called the
Duke Chronicle and spoken with a young lady in their business office. Neither she nor the young man I first talked to had ever heard of Dr, Thomas Sowell. (I had to phone them. Their website was down.)
Anyway, I asked them to give me the price for a full-page ad in their newspaper. I also told her I intended to publish the Sowell column as is, and told her where the editors could find that column to read it.
Gave her my address and phone, and she promised to get back to me. From reading David Horowitz' experiences with college newspapers, I estimate that the cost of this ad will not exceed $500. Twenty Freepers could do that comfortably.
I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for checking and I’m sure we can raise the support needed for this. If you’ll write a piece I’ll help spread the word with the Sowell ping list and other Sowell readers.
