WITH understandable reluctance, Prime Minister John Howard recently donned the political hair-shirt of a carbon trading system.
On the same day, NASA chief Michael Griffin commented in a US radio interview that "I am not sure that it is fair to say that (global warming) is a problem that we must wrestle with".
NASA is an agency that knows a thing or two about climate change. As Griffin added: "We study global climate change, that is in our authorisation, we think we do it rather well.
"I'm proud of that, but NASA is not an agency chartered to, quote, battle climate change."
Such a clear statement that science accomplishment should carry primacy over policy advice is both welcome and overdue.
Nonetheless, there is something worrying about one of Griffin's other statements, which said that "I have no doubt . . . that a trend of global warming exists".
Griffin seems to be referring to human-caused global warming, but irrespective of that his opinion is unsupported by the evidence.

Don't bet on it. Algore probably thinks that's just a fluke in the data (or some evil corporate-funded fake numbers) and that the real long term prognosis is... CHAOS! FREAK PHENOMENA! DEATH! Unless, of course, you buy carbon offsets.

In fact, there is every doubt whether any global warming at all is occurring at the moment, let alone human-caused warming.
For leading politicians to be asserting to the contrary indicates something is very wrong with their chain of scientific advice, for they are clearly being deceived. That this should be the case is an international political scandal of high order which, in turn, raises the question of where their advice is coming from.

Bob Carter is a Research Professor at James Cook University (Queensland) and the University of Adelaide (South Australia). He is a palaeontologist, stratigrapher, marine geologist and environmental scientist with more than thirty years professional experience, and holds degrees from the University of Otago (New Zealand) and the University of Cambridge (England). Bob Carter's current research on climate change, sea-level change and stratigraphy is based on field studies of Cenozoic sediments (last 65 million years) from the Southwest Pacific region, especially the Great Barrier Reef and New Zealand, and includes the analysis of marine sediment cores collected during ODP Leg 181.
Bob's research has been supported by grants from competitive public research agencies, especially the Australian Research Council (ARC). He receives no research funding from special interest organisations such as environmental groups, energy companies or government departments. Bob strives to provide critical and dispassionate analysis based upon scientific principles, demonstrated facts and a knowledge of the scientific literature.
I think this provides even more evidence of the depth of the scam of Global Warming. The problem we face if the proponents of the scam ever succeed fully in their goals of one world climate-centric socialism is that they will continue to leverage fear even once or if global cooling occurs. They have set forth with Global Warming something that can not be falsified by their own estimation. Hurricanes happen with greater frequency and its global warming, they don’t happen or occur at lower frequency then it is also global warming. Don’t be surprised that if global cooling becomes evident that they also blame global warming. If not global warming you can be sure that they will find a way to blame mankind which they view far more so than CO2 as the real problem. That is the insanity that the environmentalist socialist represent. They do not wish to preserve the environment for posterity. They wish to eliminate our posterity for the sake of the environment.
