MY EVENING WITH TOM TANCREDO at the Nixon Library

If their ghosts were hanging around the Nixon Library last night, the Founding Fathers would have been pleased. They would have given their endorsement. Although he is a second tier candidate, they would have recognized, as all in the room recognized, that Tom Tancredo is the last best home for that place and that idea called America.

He is not huge of stature, but Tancredo's idea tower over those of the other candidates.

He's been in Congress for eight years and is a genuine enemy of Karl Rove. That is Rove's choice. Tancredo did not set out to make enemies. He set out to try to save this nation from the invasion that is killing it.

I learned more about the congressman last night and spent time in line reading his book MORTAL DANGER while waiting in line to have it signed.

He is not a one issue candidate, but the one issue about which he leads the charge is the issue that threatens to end America --- illegal immigration.<>

If elected, Tancredo will appoint strict constructionist judges. Abortion is wrong. The government takes and spends far too much of our money and does things every day that are unconstitutional.

His first act would be to release border agents Ramos and Compean. He would build a 15 foot high fence, a narrow corridor, and another fence that stretched for 2000 miles. Illegal aliens will never get Social Security. Every mayor and city councilman who is responsible for sanctuary cities in violation of federal law will be prosecuted. There will not be North American Union and an American continent of which we are a part; there will be the United States of America.

We are not in a war on terror. We are in a war against radical Islam. If we continue to get 100% of the grief from the United Nations as we fund 27% of it, we will tell the U.N. to take a hike.

Although he will probably remain a second tier candidate, we hope that his ideas will influence the top tier candidates. We are absolutely the last best hope for civilization.

I sat at the table right behind talk show host Kevin James (striped shirt), Bay Buchanan, and Ted Hayes. Bay has been following Peter Paul's case and mentioned it in her book. After speaking with her, I hope I am going to be able to convince her to mention it more.

Ah, so mentioning his breaking his solemn pledge is now a “whine”? Ah well, if integrity means nothing to you, so be it. You don’t want responses, quit posting to mine. It’s a free internet, and you do not get to decide the who what or why. And hey, if the whole Tancredo ‘08 thing does not work out don’t worry, there is always Lyndon LaRouche.

You don’t want responses, quit posting to mine.

Unsolicited, you've initiated three different posts to me, three different times, on three different threads - one of them that goes back at least a couple of weeks without anyone posting on it.

Ah, so mentioning his breaking his solemn pledge is now a “whine”?

It is when you continuously post it after I've already told you, repeatedly now, that I'm not interested in it.

if the whole Tancredo ‘08 thing does not work out don’t worry, there is always Lyndon LaRouche.

Why don't you tell me now - since you continue to ignore the question - what's wrong with Tom Tancredo's platform? On which issues do you disagree with him?

if integrity means nothing to you, so be it

Tancredo's decision to seek reelection - and the overwhelming support of his constituents when he did so - doesn't demonstrate a lack of integrity. He explained why he stayed in Congress. In 2004 - when he broke the pledge and ran for reelection to a fourth term - the illegal immigration issue was still virtually ignored by most. If you look at the last three years, you see the growth in the issue - largely as a result of the efforts Tancredo has made.

Your gripe with him is something beyond the term limits issue. Personally, I think you don't like conservative candidates.

You said to me that you don't pay attention to screen names or who you're posting to, but I do. When someone posts repeated attacks against a candidate I like, after I've already told them I'm uninterested, I tend to check out who it is. I've looked a little at your posting history.

Two things stick out: Fred Thompson is the "flavor of the month" according to you. You also said that we need candidates with "moderate appeal."

You won't comment on where you disagree with Tancredo on issues because that would expose your moderate leanings.

Now, in response, why don't you post the same foolishness about term limits.
