From personal experience at U.Va., I am cheering these boys on. They were put through a hell that they did not deserve, and Nifong, the infamous Gang of 88, and Duke University itself MUST pay. Bankrupt the University and the Gang of 88, if possible, as a warning to corrupt "guilty" racist liberal academics at other colleges and universities, and throw Nifong in jail.

I agree with you.

I think the Duke professors, the Black Panthers, Jesse Jackson, and all other groups who ganged together at the beginning of this case should be sued as a group who acted in concert to ignite the firestorm of rage against these innocent men.

Art is worthless? History is worthless?

I’ll have to disagree with your definition of worthless

Much of modern art is worthless.

History can be worthless also. It depends on the historian. If he's an idiot then it's probably worthless.

Napolean once said: "What is history, but a fable agreed upon".

Another nice thing is that the case should be decided by summary judgment. There are no facts in dispute. Only the issue of damages will be need a trial, if they don’t consent to have the judge set them. Duke U will also be a major target worth millions. By suspending the three boys and disbanding the team they certainly prejudged the boys’ guilt and thereby defamed them. I can’t see them getting off the hook for less than 5 million per kid.

This is just further proof that liberalism is a sure way to bankruptcy, both moral and fiscal.

You may be right, but the idea of seeing the Dukes of 88 Haz-beens twisting in the wind is appealing, even if that is all that is accomplished. It just takes one bottom-feeder to start the ball rolling.

Thanks for your explanation in post 120, trubolotta.

These are the same departments at U.Va. that are continually making trouble with the administration, the grounds that we should pay all workers and contractors a “living wage.”

This is despite the fact that U.Va. is already paying among the highest wages in Central Virginia and that increased tuition hikes would be necessary to pay for inflated wages (as if the 40% increase since 2003 and the 8-10% annual increase isn’t enough).

Worthless? Neither art nor history is worthless, but the departments, professors, and students of many of the associated departments are.

It was akin to screaming fire in a crowded theatre.

Wishful thinking. Look I'm not defending these crude pricks however you can't go suing people for their opinions. They may be wrong, crass, unintellegent, bias, prejudice, bigoted, but free speech entitles one to their opinion, especially in public. If you can show how the entire legal system was influenced to accuse these boys of guilt, then maybe, but that would be a huge stretch.

I read it carefully too. I believe the ad clearly implies that the young men are guilty of rape.

I read it too, which part are you referring to specifically implies rape?

We will have to agree to disagree.

It is easy to sit back and not demand more than an apology when it doesn’t affect your own life.

If you were a LaCrosse player from Duke, and you knew you were innocent, the ad in the paper would appear indefensible.

The truth is that those professors are a bunch of creeps who tried to help railroad innocent boys by their crappy little tactics.

I only wish that the same would happen to their carrers that has happened to Nifongs. I wonder if the Haitians would care about marxist drivel?

No offense, but posts like this drive me nuts. The headline suggests that the profs are going to be sued. But when you read the text of the post, it is just one guy reporting on what bunch of lawyer friends yaked about over dinner. Are any of these lawyers retained by the Duke lacrosse players, or is this speculation? Please, people, be accurate with your posts. This is presented as “news”, but is should fall under “vanity” or “opinion”.

Keep in mind that exactly one of the 88 has publicly stated that he was wrong, and apologized. He alone should not be sued. But he should be used as an example, in seeking maximum damages from all the professors who did NOT say they were wrong, and apologize.

There is just a chance that the Nifong case blowback could wind up purging the Duke faculty of some of their most obnoxious and dishonest left-wing faculty members. Some major good may come out of this situation, yet.

You're right: my sister is a liberal arts major, although we tried to steer her into physics and mathematics.

After just one year in U.Va.'s history and anthropology departments, she now believes that the U.S. is very racist, that there are "problems" here that need "fixing"...before we begin to "fix" the "problems" of the world.

As an engineering student, I do learn mathematics. Hell, all of us do...we all have to cover calculus; many have to cover differential equations, linear algebra, probability, and discrete mathematics. Computer science and engineering majors at U.Va. are only 2-3 classes away from an applied mathematics minor and 4-5 away from a mathematics major.

It’s about high time these institutions were exposed to the greater public for the hard-core marxists that they are.

I’ve not one ounce of pity or sympathy for them. Not one.

Thanks for the link. I read that tripe. Basically, they're saying that the original ad didn't mean what it said. And then, dummies that many of the Duke faculty are, they REPUBLISHED the original ad. Republication increases the damages in a case like this.

Though I am a "recovering attorney" myself who did a fair number of trials, I am opposed to the law suit addiction of modern American society. Nonetheless, in this instance I say, "Sue the b*stards back to the Stone Age." Or in the immortal words of Gordon Geiko in "Wallstreet," the lawyers should have the defendants "bleeding from all orifices."

Congrats and good luck. I’m an engineer and went through the same math courses. The college I attended in 1966 had a “humaniities department”, one of the first in the nation for an engineering college. It was basically a collection of agitprop courses. The few that didn’t spew hatred for this country were pretty good.

Oh goody. I wondered when the heck would hit the fan. They don’t have any shield behind which they can hide and claim First Amendment protection.

Look, if a lawyer wants to go for it and sue that's fine, but still no one has pointed out what it is in the statement that is worthy of civil litigation. I may be totally wrong on this, but I don't see where this statement "harms" these boys other than the regualar liberal crap spewed on a daily basis around this country.

I would love for someone to point out the justification and harm done to these boys as a result of this statement. Could the "ad" as a whole be a kin to what Nifong said in his early statements concerning this case?
