That is a huge problem with this bill. They keep saying it ends chain migration and converts to merit and nuclear family only. They don't tell you that the bill puts this switch 8 years out...at which time it would never happen.

Demographically, the damage will be done long before the 8 years are up and even then chain migration still plays a major role, over 40%, of all legal immigration numbers. And I agree with you that many of the "concessions" offered to Reps to support this bill will be stripped out by subsequent Dem controlled Congresses. If this bill is passed, the country is finished as we know it.

Biden insists, with no evidence that I am aware of, that they are no longer talking about a strong central government in Baghdad.

Repeats three times that this is a “civil war.”

Watching the service they have just shown a clip of a service with the cross of nails that was on the HMS Coventry when she sunk and divers later recovered. These nails were from the original Coventry Cathedral that was destroyed during World War II.

“”
Between 13 October 1982 and 2 January 1983, a Royal Navy saturation diving team led by MCDO Lt Cdr (later Cdr) Mike KOONER RN (CO MV STENA SEASPREAD and OIC Naval Party 2002) recovered sensitive items from the wreck of the Type 42 destroyer HMS COVENTRY, sunk by Argentine bombs 10 miles north of Pebble Island. At the request of COVENTRY’s Commanding Officer, Captain David HART DYKE LVO, RN, the divers also recovered his ceremonial sword and telescope, now on display in the RN Museum in Portsmouth, and the cross of nails from Coventry Cathedral, presented in 1978 when the ship was commissioned. Lt Cdr KOONER was subsequently appointed an MBE.””

PRESIDENT BUSH'S FATHER'S DAY PROCLAMATION

George H.W. Bush with his son, George W. Bush

"Fathers play a unique and important role in the lives of their children. As mentor, protector, and provider, a father fundamentally influences the shape and direction of his child's character by giving love, care, discipline, and guidance."

"Raising a child requires significant time, effort, and sacrifice; and it is one of the most hopeful and fulfilling experiences a man can ever know. A father can derive great joy from seeing his child grow from infancy to adulthood. As a child matures into independence and self reliance, the value of a parent's hard work, love, and commitment comes to fruition."

"Responsible fatherhood is important to a healthy and civil society. Numerous studies confirm that children whose fathers are present and involved in their lives are more likely to develop into prosperous and healthy adults. Children learn by example; and they need their father's presence as examples of virtue in their daily lives. A child's sense of security can be greatly enhanced by seeing his parents in a loving and faithful marriage."
--George W. Bush

Which makes you wonder just what the Bills sponsors think they are accomplishing by keeping this fight going in the US Senate?

That's what I keep wondering .. I admit I've been out of the news loop for the last week .. but I just don't get why they are pushing this crap again

Biden says Reid didn’t slander the generals and he shouldn’t apologize...because the President’s policy is an abject failure.

He thinks Petraeus will tell the truth. Well, thanks for that, Joe.

Is it verboten to mention Face the Nation in this thread? I could understand if it was. We got a couple of east coast dandies, a guy whose relations run places like Sierra Leone and the Ivory Coast and an Irish broad with her rasberry earrings and brightly painted nails, all feigning concern over a conflict for which they have no personal attachment.

My country is a open, oozing sore. If I was the enemy, I could help but pick at it.

LOL. No, but I think unless Laverne watches and reports, none of the rest of us actually tune it in.

Joe Biden is really pretty funny. He thinks if he says lots and lots of words, it will appear that he is actually saying something.

He will solve everything with creative diplomacy.

I just noticed that Joe Biden does not pronounce the “b” in problem. It comes out as prahlum.

LOLOL. And Col. Hunt flushes his credibility down the drain with that one.
