"If something like this is going to put the public in jeopardy, then certainly we are going to pursue [charges], said Sgt. Rich Brady of the Salt Lake City Police Department."
Now that may Depend:

I’m delighted to see that space aliens use WWII-era technology—makes them less of a threat.

Hehehehe! I used...USED...to fill big trash bags with helium and let them drift into the air. Prolly NOT a good idea because I live within a couple of miles of Pittsburgh International.

You were supposed to tape a 6' sheet of Reynold's Wrap to the bottom seam as a "tail".
Sometimes when they rotated, it would go "Stealth", "Echo","Stealth", "Echo"... It must have been hugely entertaining to the nearby Naval Air Station.
Ahh, Youth.

Looks like Rosie O’Donnell misplaced her “marital” aid.

The fact that the image is sharp enough to be identified makes it not-a-UFO. Sorry.I didn't say I believe it. I said Art Bell might pick up the story.
To: Bladerunnuh
How can anyone see that and NOT think “blimp” immediately?

Funniest thing to me about this is that all the witnesses were saying it was over 100 feet long, and it turned out to be less than 30 feet long. Of course, when they spot a REAL UFO and report that it was 100 feet long, one mile away, and traveling at 200 mph, all against a blank sky with no reference points, then those figures are perfectly accurate.

That is definitely not ‘not of this earth’.

We used to take dry cleaner bags and tape the bottoms and fill them with natural gas. Then we’d tape a cigarette to a book of matches and let it fly. It would be several minutes before it exploded. Many times we’d get on our knees and pray to the “God of Fire” and those that were walking past us when it ignited were dumbfounded. I wonder if kids today are this inventive?

We had a tank of hydrogen we had to get rid of..Some local junkyard bought a load of used "Air" cylinders and this oddball was in it. Thinking back about aerial trashbag sacrifices, we were pretty lucky none of them lit when we were launching them, attaching the crude "fuse". I always thought hydrogen was supposed to burn with a colorless flame, but I guess the plastic bag colored it. One of them made a perfect smoke ring of flame at a couple of hundred feet! We were never able to get that again, though. I wish we had taped dozens of bottle rockets to the bag by their fuses! The ones that whistle! Imagine!
