At this point in time, are we just wasting our money on supporting this adventure? We risk lives regularly to support the ship.

"The cosmonauts may use another jumper cable Saturday to get the last two failed processors on the computers working ..."

Russian cosmonauts on Saturday began turning back on some crucial systems that had been shut down more than four days ago when a computer system on the Russian side of the international space station crashed.

Should have bought a Dell....

This is good news, but in the longer view we are a long ways from the reliability needed for a manned trip to Mars and back. The Centaur apparently misfired slightly yesterday and that is one of the most reliable rocket systems ever. The satellite will probably have enough internal fuel to reach its orbit on its own, but mission lifetime will be limited.

It took four days to restore the capability of the computers.

That 'award winning' Dell Tech Support from Bangladesh strikes again.

(after 45 minutes on hold)
"Hi, my name is 'Tommy'. Do you have a firewall? Did you install any software? No, Okay - first, unplug your computer and wait 30 seconds then plug it in and re boot ..... Alright then, did that fix it?."

"NO?" Oh well, I think we have to reformat your hard drive."

*#&%&* Dell.

THIS is why we need people in space. Let’s see a remote robot probe fix itself by bypassing circuit boards. There is still no replacement for a real, honest-to-goodness “meat world” human being.
