House rejects security fence at the border

The U.S. House of Representatives shot down a proposal Friday by U.S. Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz, that would have built an 854-mile, double layered security fences along the Mexican border.

Franks noted that only 13 miles of a Mexican border fence approved last year have been built and that the fencing is needed to improve border security.

"With over 4,000 people crossing our southern border illegally every day, our border remains one of our country's most critical national security vulnerabilities. In order to carry out an act of terrorism, a militant Islamist simply needs a porous border and a dangerous weapon," said Franks in a statement.

Franks represents Glendale, Peoria, Sun City and Kingman.

The fence plan failed by 272 to 149 votes. Most Democrats (including Arizona congressional members Harry Mitchell, Gabrielle Giffords , Ed Pastor and Raul Grijalva) voted against the border fence plan.

Most Republicans (including Franks and fellow Arizona Reps. Rick Renzi and John Shadegg) voted for the comprehensive fence plan.

Mesa GOP Congressman Jeff Flake crossed party lines and vote against the border fence bill.

The House did approve an overall homeland and border security appropriations bill Friday. Mitchell said he backed that bill because it allocates federal money to hire more Border Patrol Agents and resources to deport violent illegal immigrant criminals.

"Deporting those illegal immigrants who have committed violent crimes is absolutely imperative to keeping our communities safe," Mitchell said in a statement. Mitchell represents Tempe and Scottsdale.

The state's four Democratic representatives and Renzi voted for the final bill. Flake, Franks and Shadegg opposed.

The votes could be a precursor to a big political fight over immigration reforms, a guest worker program and how to deal with the 12 million illegal immigrants already in the U.S.

Yeah, the Kennedy family has a long history of anti-U.S. treachery. Grandpa Joe believed that Hitler was going to win the war. An embarrassing position for the Ambassador to Great Britain to take.

I think your right. The sheeple are too busy with their recreation, sports events, and partying to give a rats ass about their freedom.

A lot of us are more concerned with making a living, and can't necessarily make a trip to DC unless the goal was to burn the capital down.

Okay then, I guess the fences don’t work. That’s why all of the pro-illegal immigration people are for fences. Oh wait...They aren’t.

Fences seem to work everywhere in the world except on the Mexican border. Why?

Because we would have to divert hundreds of millions of dollars from paying for the illegals freedom coming in to the country to use our system for free to be able to build the fence.

Make sense now?/s

These people were elected to represent U.S. citizens, not Mexican illegals. Since Congress doesn’t represent us, we owe them no support. Kennedy should have been thrown out a long time ago. He’s more interested in himself than his country.

IF they do not think we need a border fence, then they need to dismantle all the security in place around the Capital Buildings and live like the rest of us folks - UNprotected. Till then they are hypocrites.

Hey, wait a minute....Hillary said our No. 1 concern should be the fence IIRC....for “security”. Guess she found out that the Hispanics don’t vote for “fences”.

Read the article. My solution, if it doesn’t or isn’t working then mine it. I’m serious. It’s our border, cross illegally and risk death. I’ve got no problem with that.

The Subject: TARGETED RECALL

IMO, the most important thing is to plant the seed, and that seed is targeted recall. This is not the time for hysterics, this is the time for action. We're all in this foxhole together, so we need to keep our heads and direct our energies.

I will try to get at least one thing up on the discussion board before I leave later today. If not, tomorrow for sure. (May be better anyway, I won't be so rushed.) I would appreciate it if those who are in support of the idea would BUMP and PING any such threads...that in itself is one way of getting the idea out there. And may I suggest using a subject line in any post...i.e., RECALL.

Let the brainstorming begin.

I don’t think Rush would actively participate in the organization of an event - I think Hannity might. But do you guys think if an event was organized, (and that’s if we can get the bill’s passage postponed until August or so) someone could call in to Rush about this issue and let him know an event was being planned? Sort of like “Dan’s Bake Sale”. (there’s a blast from the past!)

Looks like the “Blue Dog” Congress critters will all be looking for jobs next time around. Provided they don’t piss us all off to the point where thanks to the right to bear arms under 2nd Amendment we travel to DC to set things right. They all ran for office as being tougher on the invasion of our country and now we know for a fact they lied. All this is going on while the US Military is deployed fighting for the very survival of Western Civilization. I doubt very much any GI would protect these traitors and will probably join us if we are given no other choice in saving our nation.

I am pinging you to my posts #57 and #70. Can I get some input?

Desparate times require desperate actions.

Let me give you some food for thought.

First off,all we hear from Republicans is that the 1986 amnesty was a failure and didn’t work. Well, duh!

So that has been 20 years and nothing has been done. Not even a study to find out why amnesty didn’t work. Why haven’t the worker penalties been applied to the lawbreakers? Is or has the Justice Department been diligent in upholding our laws. What other departments have been neglectful in enforcing work place rules. Has this amnesty led to widespread forgery? What government departments are negligence? Has this amnesty led to smuggling of humans and drugs? What government department is responsible for this travesty?

We need to hit the downside of the Reagan amnesty just like the 9/11 commission. We should not consider any kind of immigration bill until a lot of questions have been answered.

If a number of talkradio hosts could come together on something, that force would be enormous. We need to find the "something."

Then why do they put them around all their own houses.

Excellent idea.

You establish a format and let's begin a thread for every state in the union, a possible example for a title of each thread (just change the state name) :

CALIFORNIA RECALL: Petition To Recall Elected Officials, Over Immigration Bill

Or, something like that for every state. I'll do Alabama once you establish the format. It should include senators and representatives, correct?

In other words, we need an in depth study of why the Reagan amnesty was a failure before jumping into another failure. The answser could be in the succeeding administrations failure to enforce the laws. It is time for the truth to be told.
