Now the Administration has outed a Secret Service Agent.

They’ll nail Rove and Cheney this time, for sure.

The closest this woman came to breaking a rule was having a sippy cup of WATER (which I didn’t know was on the banned substance list!).

I bet water is the most confiscated item.

What is so hard for people to understand that rules are for everyone. She and he child are no different that anyone else. I am glad she is a former SS agent. She is part of the problem.

get a life! She deserved it. The bottom line is that the rules are posted. Only a “blond” women would read the rules differently. The bitch should go to jail with her Democrat kid.

I'm not sure why you took what I said to mean I sided with the woman.

I fly a lot, and from what I've seen, water is the item most confiscated. People tend to pack it in their carry on bags.

...Emmerson is seen being escorted out of the security checkpoint area by a screener. It then appears that she intentionally dumps water out of the sippy cup onto the floor and tries to slip back through security without going through the screening process, drawing the attention of a police officer...

If this incident is anything to go by, this lady is
a pain in the rear. I am sorry for her child and her
fiance.

And that is part of the problem. Blond American moms and their toddlers shouldn't be harrassed at airports. When the diaper is on the butt and not the head, let em go. I glad she stood up to the rent a cops.

DId you watch the video?

Does attitude (on her part) count for anything?

Blondie lied, thus has no business being in the SS.

The closest this woman came to breaking a rule was having a sippy cup of WATER (which I didn’t know was on the banned substance list!).

What closet have you been hiding in? Liquids were banned after that group in England concocted the plan to blow up a plane using common chemicals and mixing the bomb on the plane. She was given a hard time before the two video segments come into play (so we are told)

Uh, perhaps. But the rules on 'no liquids' are clear and have been in place for a while. As a (former?) secret service agent, she is better placed than most to know the rules.

she is under stress - no small part caused by over zealous TSA thugs

Under stress? Why?

and then spills water on the floor (there is disagreement about the intent - on purpose/accident)

There is no disagreement. Watch the video. The dumping is clearly ON PURPOSE.

is made to clean it up

Good. She should clean up her own mess.

is held up to miss her flight....

She missed her flight because she was being an ass.

all because of her 19 month-old’s sippy cup with WATER.

No. She missed her flight because: she felt she was above the rules; she tried to get water through the security lines; she repeatedly chose to escalate the incident instead of defusing it.

Nice to post a smart-elic response - regarding liquids - the rule is no longer "no liquids" and according to one report - 3 oz of water, milk, juice, or formula is allowed.

So the real problem is 1 oz of water that she could have just as easily disposed of by drinking. But no... the TSA would have none of th> Under stress? Why?

I take it you have never flown with a toddler...and of course, being harassed over 1 oz of water didn't help.

The government thinks this backs up their story. Howeve, it make them look really bad. When my husband saw that woman on her knees cleaning the ‘spill’, he about had a heart attack. He was furious. He also saw that toddler wondering off because of those security nazis. This enraged him further. I know he would have protested loudly if it was me and would have been locked up by those cretins.

You know, I have to wonder at these TSA people wasting time with a woman who was obviously no threat just to ‘put her in her place’ instead of looking for real threats. I hope she has friends in high places that make these loser TSA people really sorry for their behaviour. These people are in charge of secuity for the skies-I think I’ll take the train.

Wrong. I have flown with a toddler. Said toddler chose to cry most of the flight and threw up right before landing. That is not an excuse for her very bad behavior. Nice to post a smart-elic response

Wrong. I gave an appropriate reply. the rule is no longer "no liquids" and according to one report - 3 oz of water, milk, juice, or formula is allowed.

Alright, lets take a look at the rule. On Tuesday, September 26, 2006, TSA adjusted the ban on liquids, gels, and aerosols. Air travelers may now carry liquids, gels and aerosols in their carry-on bag when going through security checkpoints. With certain exceptions for prescription and over-the-counter medicines, baby formula and breast milk, and other essential liquids, gels, and aerosols, the following rules apply to all liquids, gels, and aerosols you want to carry through a security checkpoint. All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be three ounces or smaller.

So the rule for 3 oz of fluid is that the container must be that size. Clearly the sippy cup was much larger than the allowed upon container.

Now there IS an exception for breast milk and baby formula. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/formula.shtm

She did not have any formula, so this exception did not apply. She could have easily complied with this rule before getting to the security screening.

Yes, she could have easily disposed of the liquid by drinking it. Instead she chose to dump it on the floor in the middle of the pedestrian walkway.

These rules are there to keep us safe from the terrorists.

Gosh I see a frazzled mommy and her toddler (who
toddles walks away) when the TSA person apparently asked her to take her child out of the stroller so they could look inside. This whole thing is obnoxious and needless especially now that I learned you get to PURCHASE WATER on the otherside for $4 - $5.
I have flown ONE time since 9/11 and that was before the liquids were checked. On my return flight that never happened, it was the day they discovered some plot in GB to
somehow blow up airplanes. I’ve never understood why no liquids. Might as well have everyone strip naked and fly in hospital gowns, then send a seperate plane along later with the passenger’s personal. If that sounds ridiculous then it’s about as ridiculous as those folks surrounding the Mommy in the video.
Where are the box cutters and explosives?
I feel sorry for the woman.

I believe it shows how people (both her and the TSA) can make mountains out of molehills.

“over zealous TSA thugs, and then spills water on the floor (there is disagreement about the intent - on purpose/accident), is made to clean it up, is held up to miss her flight.... all because of her 19 month-old’s sippy cup with WATER.

Sorry - but what doesn’t fly is that there were no other reasons to detain this woman and child.”
___________

I agree with you. The poor woman was frazzled, surrounded, by over weight TSA overly officious and ignorant personel,
made to take her child out of the stroller then forced to clean up the liquid explosives<— (water in the sippy cup)
her ownself when those TSA folks should have done so.

Actually you have no rights when you fly.
When there is a delay of HOURS, you must remain seated in a hot stuffy plane rather than returned to the terminal.
Flying used to be fun...but the times and events have changed all that and instead of feeling safer with TSA, many times you feel violated and the luxury of flying is a pain in the ass. ESPECIALLY when you find out that they don’t check the baggage that is loaded seperately. So they can afford to hire TSA folks and pay them benefits, etc., but it is “far to costly for the airlines to check the luggage”.
That makes no sense.
I don’t fly anymore.
