Our W looks awesome, as usual ... bathed in God's grace and the peace that truly passes all understanding. LOVE the pics with the troops.
Back from knee replacement surgery, and I SO SO SO appreciate all the prayers and good thoughts from my FRiends.
Unfortunately, it was not without complications. The evening after surgery, I suddenly felt claustrophobic, panicky and breathless. They immediately put me on oxygen, and soon thereafter a CAT scan revealed a pulmonary embolism. Damn .. that was a fear of mine, too, and one reason I was so very hesitant to stop my daily baby aspirin dose.
But, the comprehensive report from a Lancet article stating that the risk of stopping it and having a stroke, blood clot, etc. was higher than the risk of bleeding by not stopping didn't go over well with my doc. He thought it was "controversial," so I reluctantly stopped taking it 10 days prior to surgery.
To say I'm grateful to be alive would be an understatement, and just how much I know your prayers helped me. I thank God dearly for His mercy. Just last week a friend of my son's girlfriend .. a lot younger than I .. had knee replacement surgery and died in her sleep of a clot.
Will be on blood thinner for 6 months, understandably will have pain for awhile, several weeks of therapy torture and pushing myself to do those excruciating exercises .. LOL (those therapists are something else ;), and struggles getting my socks on, etc., but I'm really walking so well .. barely need the walker. My knee is really strong and stable, praise the Lord.
It's so important that this Dose remains the sane and safe harbor it's always been. Thanks to the Mods and all who work to keep it free of the nastiness and dissension so prevalent everywhere else.

YOU WILL FIND AN EXCELLENT ARTICLE DESCRIBING THE PRESIDENT’S TRIP TO KANSAS HERE:
Excerpt:
“Not the usual campaign stuff, but telling us what it’s like to be president, how you have to make decisions, one of the lines that got the most applause was one where he said I’m not interested in being the most popular I’m interested in being right,” Mike Kiegerl, Olathe resident, said.

Hubby and I are off for a late dinner . . . until tomorrow!
I’ve been waiting for word of your recovery, and I’m glad the scary part is over for you. I’ll be praying that the rehabilitation is easier than you expect. Thanks for telling us.
Here’s praying for a complete and QUICK recovery . . . And, yes, thank God the embolism was discovered and treated!!
So glad to hear the surgery was successful and you’re still kicking, in a manner of speaking.;o)
When dad was in though they took him off his blood thinning drugs they gave him this daily injection up to a few hours before the op because it does not remain in the blood like aspirin or other blood thinners it is just a short lived thing but usually prevents clots.
It is now standard practice in UK hospitals if you are fairly immobile or awaiting an operation that you have this injection every day.
Very Cool Jonny as Dose Sheriff graphic & I concur!
Praise God that you are alright.
Friends of ours had a little girl. She had surgery on her leg and hip last week, was recovering at home just fine and died at home Sunday morning. It was a blood clot. She was only 10. She went to sleep Saturday night, sweet head on her pillow, and woke up in the arms of Jesus.
Starwise! I haven’t seen you post in a long time. I’ll keep your knee recovery in prayer, wow. And I’ll keep praying for our President, no matter what!
So nice to have you back - What SCARY surgery that is - I had no idea there were could be so many complications.
I suppose all surgeries are big risks, tho.
((((Starwise))))
That is so going on my homepage :)
Starwise! It's great to see you!
I was getting a little worried ... and I see you had reason to be worried yourself.
CAT scan revealed a pulmonary embolism ....
Just last week a friend of my son's girlfriend .. a lot younger than I .. had knee replacement surgery and died in her sleep of a clot.
That might have been what happened to Texasflower too, dying in her sleep after surgery.
Thanking God you're okay, (((Starwise)))
I don't envy all the torture--I mean therapy--you have ahead of you ;)
