To Avoid Conflicts, Clintons Liquidate Holdings (Obama tries secretly to smear Hillary D-Punjab)
New York Times ^ | June 15, 2007 | David D. Kirkpatrick and Adam Nagourney

Posted on 06/15/2007 4:59:44 AM PDT by tlb

Shortly after the Clinton campaign released the financial information, the campaign of Senator Barack Obama, the Illinois Democrat, circulated to news organizations — on what it demanded be a not-for-attribution-basis — a scathing analysis. It called Mrs. Clinton “Hillary Clinton (D-Punjab)” in its headline.

The document referred to the investment in India and Mrs. Clinton’s fund-raising efforts among Indian-Americans. The analysis also highlighted the acceptance by Mr. Clinton of $300,000 in speech fees from Cisco, a company the Obama campaign said has moved American jobs to India.

A copy of the document was obtained by Mrs. Clinton’s campaign, which provided it to The New York Times. The Clinton campaign has long been frustrated by the effort by Mr. Obama to present his campaign as above the kind of attack politics that Mr. Obama and his aides say has led to widespread disillusionment with politics by many Americans.

Asked about the document, Bill Burton, a spokesman for Mr. Obama, said: “We did give reporters a series of comments she made on the record and other things that are publicly available to anyone who has access to the Internet. I don’t see why anyone would take umbrage with that.”

Asked why the Obama campaign had initially insisted that it not be connected to the document, Mr. Burton replied, “I’m going to leave my comment at that.”

hildebeast is already ruining osama’s chances. She has released enough dirt on him that proves he was bought and paid for by an organized crime figure. His own dog will not play with him by October next year. The ‘toons hate osama obama.

My first thought as well, however, a couple of more moves like this Mrs. Clinton is going to get PO'd enough to run this guy over.

If Obama wants to play hardball, the she-Clinton represents the big leagues.

Obama will never be Hillary’s running mate. He may eventually get the nomination though. Hell you have to be a rookie to take on Clinton or else she will pull out the files on you. Good to see a real contest here, perhaps.

I hope Obama wins the nomination, or even Edwards. I can’t f*king stand Hillary Rodham Clinton. As bad as Obama or Edwards might be as president, anybody is better than Hillary.

“Easy Bill Limited (business service and transaction process company located in India) (Interest held in name of YGPF Mauritius Investments) (see www.easybillindia.com )”

You have to admit that arrogant SOB has quite a sense of humor.

Let's hope. Each will bring a different set of negative baggage, and so lose votes from many sources. Would be a shoo-in for whoever opposes them.

On the other hand, we could wind up in the same position we are today. We all (FR, that is) clamored loudly for "W" in 2000 to defeat Gore/Lieberman, only to clamor loudly today at what a RINO we elected.

I was in India during the 2006 midterms. It seemed that the only three headlines that their news channel cared about were:

1. Democrats win the House (and then the Senate)
2. What would be the impact of the change in leadership on the nuclear deal?
3. HILLARY IS RE-ELECTED AS SENATOR (actually she was #2)
