Depends on who the candidate is next year.

You can make the argument that running against the President on specific policies is a ‘good thing’ especially given this is the first election in decades where an incumbent isn’t running.

I’ll also note if this monstrosity we call Amnesty is killed this year, there is plenty of time to prepare for the 2008 election cycle.

We’ll see. If they pass this ‘as is’ then your probably right. I’ve never seen an issue so lopsided against a sitting President where he won’t change or modify his position an inch, choosing instead to insult and demean the very people that elected him twice.

The candidate that takes the absolute opposing position on this Senate “deal” will get a ton of support...

Somehow I seriously doubt a strong opposition will come from the left...

So this leaves it wide open for the conservatives in the race...

This is why I believe the so-called second tier of candidates are going to come on strong on what the people want a leader to do about this issue...
