Laura Ingraham Takes the Gloves Off on Tony Snow
Laura Ingraham Show ^

Laura interviewed Tony Snow in the last hour of her show. In fact, she devoted the whole hour to illegal immigration. After her no holds barred interview with Tony (she wiped the floor with him!), she took phone calls and read emails that were generated in reaction to the interview.

I feel sorry for Tony Snow. When he took the job, things didn’t look so glum. Bush hadn’t yet come out of the liberal closet.
Yet Ingrahm is right on the mark.
This is an Administration and a Congress which is arrogant, duplicitous, and sefl-absorbed. America deserves better men (and women) than these.

I’ve noticed Cheney’s seemingly complete absence on this issue, too.

But that's why it's redundant to claim that government folks are idiots or sellouts. It's not redundant to call them idiots. They don't HAVE to take or keep the job they have. It's redundant to call a WH spokesman a sellout. He is by definition a sellout, a sockpuppet, a stoolie, a mouthpiece.

“I like and respect Tony Snow”
I can second that, but Tony lost a bit of his luster for me when he championed sending Elian Gonzalez back to Cuba.
Ironically, Tony now wants to invite all of Mexico in, but he wouldn’t let one little boy have his chance at freedom.

Tonys a good man - but its his job to carry water for the administration...
Even on his radio program, before he was Press Sec, he was pro-illegals, pro-open borders.
He frequently did a handwringing defensiveness: "we can't deport 11 million people".

Is that Central Time?
She’s now interviewing a former Senator from Alaska - he was in the hour prior to Tony.

One would think that after the health scare that Snow has been going through that it would put more of a priority on being truthful and honorable. I agree Jeff. I'd be scared not to respect the second chance.

Voted in 1996 to continue chain migration Sen. Fred Thompson in 1996 voted against the Simpson Amendment to S.1664. It was a vote in favor of a chain migration system that has been the primary reason for annual immigration levels snowballing from less than 300,000 in 1965 to around a million. Sen. Thompson supported provisions that allow immigrants to send for their adult relatives. Then each of those relatives can send for their and their spouse's adult relatives, creating a never-ending and ever-growing chain. The bi-partisan Barbara Jordan Commission recommended doing away with the adult relative categories (begun only in the 1950s) in order to lessen wage depression among lower-paid American workers. The Simpson Amendment attempted to carry out that recommendation. But Sen. Thompson helped kill the reform by voting with the 80-20 majority against the amendment. Sen. Thompson's vote helped continue a level of immigration that the Census Bureau projects will result in a doubled U.S. population in the next century.See detailed description

True. But unless you're sending Cheney to a Halliburton Fundraiser, I mean, what in the world do you use him for to get people on board with a position?
Dick don't quite have the best PR ranking these days, ya know!! =)
I still go back to the point that Bush is under the gun with uberconservatives because he's not kicking things down the road. Reagan is a darling because he cut-and-ran from Beirut and actually did give millions of illegals amnesty and never did ANYTHING about border security.
Because Bush tries to do SOMETHING, he is a bad guy.
It's that simple.
Where were all these border-bots during the 2004 election? 2000? 1996? 1992? Anyone? Bueller?

Fred might not be satisfactory to your “shoot all the wetbacks” sensibilities, but he’s a lot better on the issue than Rudy McRomney would DREAM of being.

Yeah, usually they put MP3s up after 7 or 8PM EST. I have never seen any go up any earlier than that in the day at The Corner.

WRONG! When Tony was on the radio, he was in favor of the then amnesty bill, was in favor of the Harriet Miers nomination, supported Bush in the Dubai ports fiasco, etc. I can't recall him ever disagreeing with Bush.
Snow got his current gig BECAUSE he held the same views as Bush. He has not given in or sold out, nor is he under any constraints which conflict with this own opinions.
Laura Ingraham is and has been great on all these issues. She would never be offered a position in the Bush administration and would not accept it if offered, as she has moral principles which require her to work to defend America, not to destroy it.

but its his job to carry water for the administrationTony was carrying amnesty water long before he went to the administration.
The acrimony that caused here is legendary stuff.
to me, Tony is another good works Christian like Bush who can't make hard calls on anything that requires realistic yet unpolitically correct actions towards minorities.
If these illegals were 20 million Ukrainians..they'd have been long gone....which woulda sucked since their women are much prettier.
