Illegal Immigrants Steal Social Securities Of Elderly, Dead
Judicial Watch ^ | 13 JUNE 2007 | Tom Fitton

Posted on 06/13/2007 1:34:56 PM PDT by radar101

The favorable portrait of honest and hard-working illegal immigrants who simply want to feed their families was shattered when federal agents arrested dozens of undocumented workers using dead and elderly Americans’ Social Security numbers along with previously deported criminals at an Oregon food processing plant.

More than 165 undocumented workers were arrested in the raid at a major Portland fruit and vegetable processing plant for food giant Del Monte. At least 90 employees had fraudulent Social Security cards and many used the real Social Securities of juveniles, the elderly and the deceased. Others had fake green, or residency, cards and at least three are convicted felons who had been previously deported.

The previously deported criminal illegal immigrants had been convicted in U.S. courts with crimes ranging from possession of heroin to identity theft and possession of counterfeit alien registration documents.

Immigration authorities launched an investigation into the plant a few months ago when a check of employee records pointed that only 48 of the nearly 600 plant workers had valid Social Security numbers. Because the plant staff varies according to seasonal employment changes, only 165 illegal aliens were arrested in this week’s raid.

Portland Mayor Tom Potter was outraged by the immigration raid, saying that it is bad policy for federal officials to go after local workers who are in his city to support their families while filling the demands of local businesses. He immediately issued a written statement expressing his anger and referring to the illegal immigrants as “Portland residents.”

I'm not sure what you mean by that.

"Making them contribute to SS and there by being able to draw from it fixes nothing it simply adds to a problem already out of hand."

OK, first, at this point in my discussion, we re talking about documented guest workers, not illegals.

If these guest workers are paying into SS at the same rate as citizens but not staying into retirement how can they possibly be taking more out then they are paying in?

Was listening to Hannity on XM and a caller suggested that no illegals in the country currently would ever get citizenship....BRILLENT!

So it's ok to steal someones identity as long as you put money into their SS account? Tell ya what sport, email me your SS# I will make good use of it.

But don't you worry your poor little head off, I won't do too much damage to your credit while I am at it. After all, fair is fair.

Do you actually believe any democrat is going to let them legally pay in and not collect payments. That ranks right up there with 1986 amnesty where the borders were going to be enforced.

Well in this case, I'm talking about how I would do it, not what others would do.

No, thats fraud. But fraud that results in a net gain is better then fraud that results in a net loss, that is just plain ol common sense.

In favor of illegal aliens by an effective pardon as enshrined in the Senate bill, or for those residents who are here legally or are American citizens, notwithstanding the millions waiting in line to enter the country legally or the seemingly unsolvable problem of “anchor babies.”

I can appreciate you giving your opinion but don’t you think your being a little naive in you solutions. It just takes one federal judge to strike down the hard parts of this bill and we will be stuck with the give aways again. We already have cities declaring themselves sanctuaries in support of people who are breaking the law.

"In favor of illegal aliens by an effective pardon as enshrined in the Senate bill..."

I'm referring to an expanded guest worker program, not an amnesty.

"or the seemingly unsolvable problem of “anchor babies.”"

Those "anchor babies" are also known as Citizens of the United States of America every bit as much as you and I.

I'm not sure what you mean by that.

I mean that words are imprecise conveyors or reality. You are not actually arguing about the literal phrasing of the headline but some feeling the headline evokes in you. But you are afraid to come right out and say whatever is at the core of that so you attack the headline, which, as far as headlines go, is fairly innocuous.

Because it seems you are trying to justify theft. Which doesn't make sense. So that causes more speculation such as:

Do you employ illegal invaders and knowingly accept bogus SS numbers stolen from other people, perhaps? Or do you have friends who do this? If not, then are there other crimes you feel the need to justify?

Naive, how so? Any solution will need to be passed in congress and be subject tot he same bastardization by both sides.

Identity fraud charges and prosecution for all illegals stealing someone else’s ID! The freakin’ IRS will give an illegal a taxpayer ID number, so there is no reason to engage in identity theft.

You might want to reread the 14th amendment, "all persons born or naturalized in the United States" seems pretty inclusive.

Was that in the emanations or the penumbras? Because it sure was not in the words.

Social Security has been considered the untouchable “third rail” of politics. No politician dared suggest any changes to it for fear of being thrown out of office. However, Social Security Director Joann Barnhart in July of 2004 signed the U.S.-Mexico Totalization Treaty and built a SSA building in Mexico. She must think there will be a treaty signed, or something else (amnesty?) will happen to make use of that building. That “something” could be the inclusion of the right of illegals made legal in the bills being considered by the new Congress and thereby making them eligible for Social Security benefits, along with their relatives.
