D.C. Superior Court yesterday took on the $54 million question: Whose pants are these?
An administrative law judge became teary and choked with emotion as he told the court how the family-owned Custom Cleaners on Bladensburg Road Northeast lost his trousers in May 2005, then tried to cover up the error by offering him a bogus pair.
It was "a 'Twilight Zone' experience," testified Roy Pearson, who is suing Custom Cleaners owners Jin Nam, Ki and Soo Chung and seeking $54 million for his lost pants.
Mr. Pearson, who is acting as his own attorney, called himself as a witness. He will be cross-examined today by defense attorney Chris Manning.
"[The Chungs] hope tomorrow all this will be behind them," Mr. Manning said at a press conference after yesterday's proceedings. "This case really lacks all merit. [Mr. Pearson] should have just used the free-market system and gone down the street to another dry cleaner."
Mr. Pearson originally sought to sue the South Korean immigrants for $65 million under a strict interpretation of the District's consumer protection law. The law levies a daily fine of $1,500 per violation.

I wonder whom the judge will sue for losing his mind.
A serious asskicking would probably do the trick.
While its obvious he’s screwing over the Korean(?) dry cleaners, whats troubling is he sits as a judge hearing cases in what appears to be his ‘spare time’.
Removing him from the bench seems warranted.
Won’t someone please step up and help this man?
This Gentleman needs a swift kick in the pants.....oh, he doesn't have them. Never mind.
I would find the cleaners guilty and award the judge 50 dollars for another pair of pants and a box of tissues. Poor baby.
Obviously his power has gone to his head and he can't accept that sometimes you just have to take the apology in life and move on.
Anyone know what he does exactly. I suspect an investigation would find other abuse of his position of trust. No one with a position of trust should be abusing the system like this.
He should be fired.
has to be a Liberal with a mental disorder.
This guy himself is a Twilight Zone experience. What a poor choice of words.
However, I once left a jacket in a Denny's. Went back to get it later and it was gone.
I sued Denny's for a billion million gazillion dollars and won the case.
The only catch is they paid me in pixie dust so I kinda lost out there with that...loooooooooony!!!
“Grommit! These are the wrong trousers! The wrong trousers! Ahhhhhh!”
Guy needs to face disbarment for bring this media-catching frivolous lawsuit.
You want to re-think this statement? LOL
hahahahaha
Someone this fragile emotionally should not be making law.
This pant-less shyster needs to be cited for the tort of Abuse of Process, have his law license revoked, held in contempt of court and be placed in jail for 364 days wearing only his boxers...
He tore up his pants?
Most who serve as their own counsel have a fool for a client.
I had a pair of trousers lost by a dry cleaners.
They gave me $35 bucks after they searched the place for 2 days and said: sorry.
I said: Thanks.
