OK..I’ll bite...I believe both theories can be true...who is to say that a day from the bible is one of our 24 hour days....just because you believe one can’t the other be plausible as well??? Donning flame resistant attire now!
Genesis 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
2 Peter 3:8 But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
The word 'day' used in Genesis 1 is the same word used in other areas that mean 'age', a '24 hour day', and a '12 hour day'.
Our view of 'day' as only 24 hours is simply because that is our perspective as the meaning, but, based on other passages, the original author could have had many meanings.
Absolutely. But if "days" in Genesis mean eons, then the rest of the language in Genesis is also descriptive of eons, which means that the phrase "each according to it's kind" (or "after his kind," depending upon which version you read) denotes a categorical lineage that is not compatible with common descent.
I've been saying this for years! These young earth folks done seem to want to take that into account. Surely God must work on a HUMAN timeframe, right? /s
