Why Did C-SPAN Blacklist Savage?
TBP | Now | Moi

Posted on 06/12/2007 12:42:17 PM PDT by TBP

Michael Savage, the #3 most listened to talk-show host in America, was honored by Talkers Magazine, the "Bible" of talk radio, with this year's Freedom of peech Award.

Recently, Talkers held a bash at which they presented the award. C-SPAN, which claims to be nonpartisan and nonideological, was there and carried most of the speeches. But for some reason, it blacklisted Savage's speech accepting the award.

Why would a nonideological network do this? More liberal media bias, obviously. C-SPAN has now willingly made itself part of the liberal effort to suppress freedom of speech in this country.

He spews forth hatred for all things Bush one day, and then sings the praises of Bush the next

I do the same freaking thing!! It's the nature of Bush. Not the nature of Savage or me.

Yesterday, Savage carried on about Kosovo and the Balkan states without the slightest historic knowledge or understanding of the dynamics of that region and its storied past. Serbia will acquiese in the separatist act because it, and only it is their ticket to EU admission. . Kosovo is 90% -95% Muslim anyway and has been a constant thorn in the Serbian eye. It's not a religious or even an ideological issue...

It is you that doesn't have a clue about the Balkans. Savage is the most well-informed off ALL of the talk show hosts. Others don't even talk about it.

Serbia doesn't need the steekin euroweenie admission. They will stand firm

It's not a religious or even an ideological issue,
helllooooo....Kosovo is the cradle of their religion, their Jersusalem, their Vatican.

Kosovo is 90% -95% Muslim anyway
so will the south west be in a few years.........ready to give that away????

You are in need of a history lesson

Ya know, there is another possibility? As I posted, C-SPAN gave the Talkers 1:45. There may have been negotiations between the C-SPAN producers and the Talkers. Since C-SPAN could only give them 1:45, the Talkers may have said, “Okay, do away with the awards portion of the program and cover as much of the panel discussions as you can.”

I really think you should have contacted C-SPAN before you got exercised over this.

I hate to see C-SPAN get bashed. Brian Lamb is a national treasure.

Bush is a liberal. Savage is a conservative.

The truth in a nutshell.

SoldierDad if you actually listened to his program, you would be aware that he has donated money out of his own pocket to the legal defense of our soldiers accused of committing crime in Iraq. As the father of a soldier, I would think you would appreciate that generous gesture of support to our armed forces.

Then again, you probably do not listen to his show.

You see, Savage's tirades are cause celebe for the Liberals in this country for painting conservatives to be the same as he (manic and dangerous)

Unlike you, I don't care about the sensibilities of liberals. And, based on the ratings, neither does his rapidly-growing audience. Why does his manner bother your ilk so much? People who are enemies of America deserve our scorn and our unabashed anger. Rush's country club mannerisms just don't cut it anymore. I notice none of these attacks on him contain any facts. Why is that? And why so many ad hominem assaults and ridicules of his assumed name? Should all references to "Cary Grant" and "John Wayne" be striken as well? How about some facts, SoldierDaddy?

He’s also helping to pay the legal bills the Islamberg-exposer is incurring. At least Savage is putting his money where his mouth is... more than I can say about myself and a lot of other people (though I did donate to a brave blogger who is helping to expose the Jihad)

I didn’t know Tony Snow still kept a radio show. One would think his govt job is enough to keep him busy.

He spews forth hatred for all things Bush one day, and then sings the praises of Bush the next.

IOW, he criticizes Bush or supports him issue-by-issue, as most independent thinkers do.

I support him on the war, but oppose much of the way he's fighting it. I've strongly supported him on taxes. I fervently oppose him on immigration, Dubai ports, China policy, and some other things. I suppose ion your world that makes me a flip-flopping liberal. In most people's world it makles me a conservative who thinks for himself. Buthten, the 'Bot position is that true conservaties must blindly support Dubya no matter where he meanders today.

If that is your evidence, that is a very weak case.

He got on the list before he left to take the job. He won’t be in the next list.

I’m aware of his donations, and I’m not impressed by one act. I have listened to his programs (up until he begins his manic rantings) and know him to be what he is. He’s a shill for the liberals who have done an excellent job of characterizing all conservatives to be nut jobs like Savage. Sorry, but the damage done to conservatives is not outweighed by one act of donation to one cause. His donation to Jerry (Moonbeam) Brown by iteself cancels the donation for those troops.

I’m not speaking to criticism on different issues, but condemnation regarding the same issue. One day Savage would sing praises for Bush on an issue, and then critize Bush for the same issue a day or two later. I cannot deal with someone who is so all over the map like Savage.

Brian Lamb is a national treasure.

Only if "national treasure" is synonymous with "liberal propagandist."

Try giving an example instead of empty generalities.

he’s done more for our troops, our Border Patrol, and our other defenders than most anyone in the media.
