(KDKA) OAKMONT When it comes to celebrities like Sienna Miller, Dennis Quaid, Sarah Jessica Parker and even David Letterman, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl sometimes seems a little star struck.
But, as an avid golf fan, Ravenstahl really couldnt wait to meet Tiger Woods. On April 23, as mayor of Pittsburgh, the 27-year-old thought he could make that happen faster than most of us.
Sources tell KDKAs Jon Delano that when the mayor learned that Tiger Woods was out at Oakmont practicing, he had his office call the club to secure an invitation. The club told him politely, but firmly, that this was a private affair, and he was not invited. Nonetheless, the mayor got in his car, drove out, and tried to crash the club.
Sources say Ravenstahl was stopped by Oakmonts security guards who told him the golf outing was a private event for American Express and its customers. But he talked his way into the club. Once inside, Ravenstahl was recognized and invited to dine with members of the clubs board of directors where, once again, he was told the event with Tiger Woods was private and not open to him.
But after lunch, sources say Ravenstahl got his hands on an American Express golf shirt, slipped the shirt on like he was part of the Am-Ex event and strolled onto the golf course looking for Woods.
Once again, security recognized him but did not kick him off the course telling him, however, not to approach the golf star or take any pictures with him. Angering club officials, Ravenstahl did so anyways and walked away with his coveted picture.
As for the Mayor, his office says it was his life-long dream to meet Tiger Woods and he did and he should be credited for that. And his spokeswoman insists the club was not upset by the Mayors conduct. Officially, Oakmont Country Club will not comment on this one way or the other.
Why our politican’s attend private industry functions and act like they were part of anything amazes me.
No class moonbat.
This has to be the most lame and liberal-like action I have heard in a long time. If this idiot had just done things appropriately, he likely would have been able to work out some sort of visit and even a photo. But he chose the dishonest and likely more difficult path... What a scumbag. The Country Club should be ashamed of themselves. What part of "exclusive" event do they not understand?
Wonder how many times he used the phrase: “Do you know who I am?”
Pittsburgh elected a 27-year-old as mayor?!?

You have to like the part where he somehow gets an AMEX shirt and sneaks on to the golf course!
No, as head of city council, he inherited the office when the elected mayor died of brain cancer. In the last election, he was unopposed. He’s the perfect empty vessel (not to mention empty head) for the Pittsburgh Democratic machine to pour their corrupt pracices into.
I guess he thinks that "Mayorship Has Its Privileges".
LOL
What could they do, call the cops?
Wouldn't be the first time. Ravenstahl was busted for drunk and disorderly at a Steeler's game while he was still on city council. Somehow, the arrest up and disappeared.
Probably just a coincidence, along with that sizable congtribution to the Policeman's Ball.
That’s exactly what I was thinking!!!!
Jagoff alert.
Hmmmn.
No party listed.
Democrat state, democrat county, major northeast-union-miority ruled city. Tiger Woods in town at golf club.
Gee, I wonder why they didn’t mention what his party affiliation was?
Don't blame them! They did everything they were supposed to do! It's this moron who doesn't understand "exclusive"!....He subverted every security they had! It would have been embarassing (to them) to manhandle him and throw him out on his arse! Instead they alowed him to make a fool of himself!.....
Rules are for "little people"..........
Someone should do the same to him
It was noted that the CC knew who he was, knew he was there, and knew what he was trying to do, and informed him all along the way, to NOT do what he was, obviously, doing. They knew he would have made a BIG DRAMA scene if they had tried to evict him. But, to their credit, they did not want to upset and embarrass THEIR GUESTS, with such a fool. They were the ones who acted with class.............
I am sure that a simple, hand-written note to Tiger from the Mayor on official stationery, expressing admiration for Tiger's skills and for his grace under pressure, and asking for a few minutes of his time, would have resulted in Tiger meeting with him.
But no, the Mayor has to be a jerk...
