Dear Friend,
As a longtime friend and staunch supporter of Israel during my entire public life, I want to share with you my deep concern for the Jewish state and ask for your support as I campaign to become the next President of the United States.
We are at a crucial moment in history. We are once again at a point where the free world's resolve in fighting evil is being tested.
In the 1990's, we had the blinders on with regard to Islamic terrorism. Coddling terrorists-even applauding for winning the Nobel Peace prize as was done with Yasser Arafat-is a policy we cannot return to.
Yet, these blinders are still worn by some people who wish to lead our country.
In neither of their debates did the Democrats mention Islamic fundamentalist terrorists and the threat they pose to our country. One candidate has even said that the global war on terror is nothing but a bumper sticker slogan. It makes the point that I've been making over and over again - that the Democrats, or at least some of them, are in denial.
I promise you that if elected President, I will make sure this country remains on offense against terrorism. But I need your help and support to get there. Will you consider giving $1,000, $500, $250, $100 or $50 to my campaign?
Israel and the United States share common values. We cherish freedom, democracy, and human life. Our shared values have attracted common enemies. The terrorists Israel is fighting are the same terrorists America is fighting, and we must continue to fight them together.
Last week Iran's President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, announced that the world would soon witness the destruction of Israel. This 2008 presidential campaign will determine how we deal with statements like these and the madmen who make them.
I stand by Israel and I'll never embrace a terrorist like Arafat, a tyrant like Ahmadinejad, or a party like Hamas.
Will you join me and support my campaign for President so we can continue to work together? Your contribution of $1,000, $500, $250, $100 or $50 will go a long way in helping us to ensure victory.
Please consider signing up for my email list as well. Doing so will keep you up to date on the latest news from my campaign.
A Giuliani administration won't accept business as usual. We will stay strong amidst the threats of tyrants and we will stay on offense against the terrorists.
Sincerely, Rudy Giuliani

You have to see this.
I got one of those this morning too. I did with it what any right-thinking person would do, and deleted it.
“This is a FUNDRAISING letter for Rudy Giuliani from the JERUSALEM POST - a NEWSPAPER!”
It’s a fundraising letter signed BY Giuliani. I presume he also PAID for it. Get a grip!
that was smart of Rudy to run that in Israel. Many Israelis are also U.S. citizens and voters.
No, that’s not quite how this works, Rudy.
This is a newspaper using its subscriber database to solicit funds for a particular political candidate. That is a breech of ethic at any level.
Sorry, I forget that for you Rudophiles, ANYTHING goes and the ends ALWAYS justify the means.
Interesting this comes after Fred Thompson announces he is going to Israel.
Despite your urgently hysterical tone, you have provided no information to support the allegation that this is anything other than paid advertising.
Do you think everyone who questions your judgment to be a Rudophile? If so, as is apparent, you have rather weak powers of judgment.
Please get a grip. You are over the top. (Hmm! Maybe you are a Hitlery troll. After all, she wants the Jewish vote as well).
Jpost.com, a subsidiary of the Jerusalem Post, a subsidiary of Mirkaei Tikshoret Limited (Israeli company) and CanWest (Canadian Company), has several monetized assets that are of use to a political campaign.
1. Database of users
2. Servers
3. Goodwill
4. Position of Authority
If the JPost.com had sold Guiliani’s campaign the database of users, and the database was then filtered to tr to only send solicitations to USA IP addresses, and the email was sent out through email servers owned or leased by the Guiliani campaign, this would be a legal transaction according to Federal campaign laws. If it wasn’t filtered, it would be illegal for the Guiliani campaign, it is illegal to solicit foreigners to contribute to United States political campaigns. (Remember Gore and the monks carrying Chinese military bundles of campaign cash?)
BUT, this email went through JPost.com servers, most of which, if not all, are located overseas, outside US jurisdiction. This is a Federal felony.
And, the JPost used it’s goodwill and editors desk authority to entice illegal solicitations, which is a felony and a gross violation of the most basic tenets of media ethics. The JPost chief editor is an American citizen though, there might be some leeway there.
Democrats, Republicans, Independents and every media organization in the US should be extremely upset by this blatant violation of United States Federal Election law, and should be calling for an immediate investigation into this incident.
Let me add something, there has not been a test case since the new laws went into effect.
Here is a brochure from the FEC with links to the statutes...
http://www.fec.gov/pages/brochures/statefed.shtml
If Guiliani paid market value for the solicitation email, it probably is legal, or at least it’s not illegal.
After thinking it through, this probably is entirely legal, and I’ve seen similar solicitations sent to subscribers of sites like politicsnj.com, northjersey.com and politicsny.com.
It's difficult to confirm that without seeing the e-mail headers.
Their website is using Akamai. A traceroute from my computer to www.jpost.com goes to Dallas, Texas.

Raising funds, aka accepting advertising, something no one should do for Rudy.
Here’s a question that’s been nagging me.
So which is it, teachers: Israel or New York? Communities for learning and regrouping in the USA could be in non-hostile, rural places near cities in the west. ...and ultimately, Israel, of course. But why...New York?
I will ask the Rabbi, BTW.
From my perspective (study of ancient and recent history), BTW, New York is much like ancient Rome.
Giuliani had better be careful not to take contributions from foreigners. Only Bubba could get away with that unscathed.
Do you think this possible scandal (solicitation of campaign contributions through a foreign company) could have a very negative effect on the Giuliani campaign?
Doubt it, all he's doing is advertining. My guess his legal staff is as least a good as those contending this is a crime of some sort.
