Just sent this and I’ll report whether it comes back.

Dear Mr. President:

As a two time supporter of yours, I am very upset about your stubborn insistence on pressing for a terrible piece of legislation regarding immigration. The issue is ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. The answer is ENFORCE THE LAW. Existing law calls for employer enforcement against hiring illegals, and for building fences and other border security measures. Until and unless your executive branch upholds its constitutional duty to execute the laws, we have no business even talking about making new law based on the dubious premise that the new laws will be enforced where the old ones were ignored these many years.

It saddens me to see that you are putting the last nail in the coffin of your legacy and destroying the base of the republican party at the same time.

Please reconsider.

It’s now the American people pitted against the US Congress. It’s a black day in American history. Our founding fathers are turning in the graves.

I think they would find the situation very familiar.

Its got nothing to do with agreeing or disagreeing with the bill it is tone that some posters have with the President that upsets people even people who may not agree with the bill.

Our President deserves an extremely harsh tone. This harsh tone does not just revolve around the immigration issue.

People would like to see our President go back and take heed of the ways forward that our founders set up to preserve America for the people.

It appears his interests do not lie with the interests of all the American people and the preservation of our culture, but more with global corporate interests coupled with obeyance to Mexico.

Giving Bush respect for forgetting his oath and promise to the American citizens, would be a denial of the facts and construed by this WH as a go ahead on this issue.

As GWB would say, "This is hard work", yeah, it is, its hard work to derail this destructive bill.

Harsh tone yes if you disagree respect also for the office not how he has handled it in your opinion that is irrelevant you still should respect the office regardless of the person.

I am no fan of Prince Charles but I still respect the fact he is a Prince.

I respect the office, so much so, that I will fight to make sure that it is not abused. The person sitting in that office has taken an oath to preserve and protect our union.

I respect the office, the person in charge needs to respect the office.

By the way, Brits have savaged Blair also, I am not too familiar with your politics, but I assume some had their own reasons. The day we blindly accept our leaders to always think in our best interests, is the day we are lost. Vigilence on the part of the people, is our only protection against tyranny and those who would take away our freedoms.

How about the “tone” of our President, when he slanders his supporters with personal invectives and plays the race card? Jorge Bush should keep in mind that what he sends around, can come around!

I personally think it was an astute political maneuver to get the whole immigration bill on the floor of the senate for debate. Sure shut the democrats up when it comes to blaming the republications for not doing anything about immigration.

I don’t think for one minute that Bush ever thought the bill would pass, but this way, he got it out of his arena and back on the floor in Reid’s and Kennedy’s camp. Now they can’t point the blame on Bush.

I hope I’m not just being naive but I still believe in this man and what he has done to make this country safe. All I have to do is remember that we have not had another 9-11 since 9-11.

If the democrats get elected, then look out because they’ve already gone soft in their dialogues and the terrorists are betting that they will be totally spineless in retaliating.

Comparing those who object to this bill to DUmmies is fighting words. Why would you debase to this insult because of our passionate opposition of this bill?

Do you mean we should lie back and enjoy whatever America-destroying action the President is pushing, simply because it is he who is pushing it?

Have we all forgotten Harriet Miers? We got a decent SC justice BECAUSE we screamed and hollered for what we knew was right.

Snugs: if the “tone” seems harsh, it is because of the President’s dogged championing of this putrid bill in the face of simple evidence that it will destroy our sovereignty and budget, for the benefit of New World Order employers and outright felons. It is bewildering, it is a betrayal of conservative principle at its most basic. And you’re worried about “tone”? This is the country’s future. Where are your priorities?

Thanks for comparing us to the radical leftists at Democratic Underground, you unthinking Bushbot!!

Since all postings on the DU must compare Bush to the antichrist I'd say the postings I'm reading here cannot be distinguished from those. The only real difference is the lack of foul language.

I take it you are okay with: open borders; amnesty for 30 million+ illegals; a merger of Canada, the United States and Mexico and the rest of the Bush/McCain/Kennedy agenda, then? Are you really that much of a Bushbot? I have voted GOP since I was old enough to vote, hell, I worked on the Nixon campaign as a 12 year old!! This is not the Republican party that I supported all those years!!

This is not the Republican party that I supported all those years!! And bread isn't 25 cents a loaf anymore either. But, I still need to eat, so griping doesn't do any good.
