Last week, we were sharing recipes on a thread boo-hoo’ing about the poor folks on food stamps and how nobody could possibly live on the tiny amount they receive:

Less than $2 a meal | A reporter takes the Food Stamp Challenge

(Not that we were boo-hoo'ing. The reporter was, but you probably knew that.)

Since then, I’ve been tracking my per-person cost of meals that I cook at home. My max was about $3 when I grilled steaks.

If I would just cook, I’d be rich(er).

Yes, good sun is a must for food production, LOL! Your ponds sound lovely. If I put one in out here, we’d have to fish the dogs out of it all the time.

In fact, it’s time to set up the Dog Pool (just a kids wading pool) for the summer, so thanks for the reminder. :)

Thankfully the pets (1 dog 4 cats) stay out of them. But, they do see them as giant water bowls despite the assorted tadpoles and other aquatic/amphibious critters lurking amongst the plants and algae.

Would you please ping me, too, when you post that hot pepper jelly recipe? Thanks.

Thank you, both, for your tips on reducing the roasting time for chicken.

I have a very small wall oven, so your suggestions will help "space-wise" as well as "time-wise."

Good ideas....I’ll try adding the milk before the butter.
