"A member of her family has been a contributor to Baca's campaign and this may have been payback time," the friend said.

Well, that would be a first in politics now wouldn't it?

Paris Hilton is a ditzy dingbat and a poor role-model for young girls BUT I don’t think she should be singled out for harsher treatment just because of her celebrity.

It seems that never before has anyone been sentenced to 45 days jail in CA for doing what Paris did.

I think 3 days would have been sufficient.
Or 100hrs of community service and perhaps a public service TV spot with her admonishing others to not be as stupid as she was and to avoid driving after drinking any amount of booze and not to violate conditions of parole.

She had a .08 alc level... that is not much I must say.
She weighs what? 100lb? ... that’d be like 1.5 beers.

Prosecutors’ Motion To Revoke Paris Hilton’s Probation People of the State of Calif. v. Paris Whitney Hilton April 30, 2007

Arguing that "probation is a privilege and not a right," Los Angeles prosecutors filed this motion to revoke Paris Hilton's probation stemming from her September 27, 2006 DUI charges. Hilton pleaded no contest in January 2007 to reckless driving charges stemming from the incident. A judge sentenced her to 3 years of probation, ordered her mandatory attendance at an alcohol education program, and that she pay fines of $1,500.

But according to prosecutors, Hilton violated at least three terms of her probation. First, she failed to enroll in an alcohol education course within 21 days of her sentencing.

Second, she had several traffic violations after receiving probation. On February 27, 2007, she was stopped by L.A. Sheriff Deputies for driving “a new Bentley” at 70 m.p.h. in a 35 m.p.h. zone “in darkness without her headlights on,” and without a valid driver’s license. Hilton’s license had been suspended by California&rsquos; Department of Motor Vehicles in November 2006 for having an "Excessive Blood Alcohol Level.”

Finally, prosecutors argued, Hilton failed to "obey all laws and orders of the Court," another condition of her probation.

On May 4, 2007, a judge sentenced Hilton to 45 days in jail for violating the terms of her probation.

VC 23582 Penalty enhancement for 23152 or 23153 while also driving 30 or more mph over the maximum, prima facie, or posted speed limit on a freeway, or 20 or more mph over the maximum prima facie, or posted speed limit on any other street or highway.

Penalty: Additional consecutive term of 60 days county jail, alcohol/drug treatment program.

SHE COULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN A MORE JAIL TIME, THAN WHAT SHE GOT!

please. had that been you or I, we’ed be in for a lot more than 45 days. This isn’t her first time. she was DUI, THEN she was stopped without a license, during which she claimed not to know that her license was suspended and had to sign an acknowledgment that she cannot drive, then she was picked up a THIRD time.

she isn’t being singled out for harsh treatment, mroe likely the reverse. See if your contributions to the local sharriff’s election fund can get you out of jail!

She should not be treated differently than anybody else.

and if .08 isn’t bad, then why is that the DUI standard across the nation? Impaired is impaired, DUI is DUI.

The sheriff is a scientologist. I had figured that was a factor, that soon we might expect to see Paris hanging out with Tom Cruise and Travolta.

You keep forgetting that the rules for the rich are different than the rules for the rest of us.

She doesnt have to obey the rules the rest of us do, she is free, white 21, and rich, add to that her arrogance and her entourage of brainless wannabees and what you see is what you get.

Much as I believe that Hilton deserved to do the time, maybe the Sheriff refused to get caught up in the hype? Supposedly the jail is overcrowded and people are being released early every day. Maybe he figured better her on the streets rather than someone more dangerous? One has to wonder what kind of people are getting out of jail just so they can keep Paris Hilton’s skanky ass in the slam.

They discussed the fact that the jail was NOT overcrowded, when she got released, last week on FNC. That's why the sheriff tried using a medical release instead of saying overcrowding was the cause.

I doubt that she is the ONLY one being jailed for a non violent crime, so it would seem that if they were going to release someone early it would be a person that had already done more time than her for their non violent crime.

She is a totally useless, poor little rich girl slut, for whom I have no sympathy.

She is lucky she didn't kill someone driving DWI or DUI. She should be thankful she was stopped and arrested before she hurt someone.

and with the Hilton Billions, I believe she would have no problem having a chauffeur on call 24/7/365 for future late night hijinx.

Who cares? Paris Hilton is the biggest non-news item to dominate cable and TV networks since the Donald Trump and Rosie O’Donnell spat.

Both are right up there with the report that Irving Schmuckbucket of East Fort Wayne color-coded the labels on the canned goods in his pantry in the summer of 1922.
