Snow sees hope for immigration reform
WASHINGTON, June 10 (UPI) -- White House Press Secretary Tony Snow says immigration reform can become reality once a "dozen or so" amendments are debated.
Snow, speaking on "FOX News Sunday," said that if the amendments receive a full airing over a couple of days of debate, "we're going to get a better bill, and it's going to be one that answers the expressed objections of a lot of people."
Snow said border security, amnesty, holding employers accountable and raising the requirements of citizenship are key issues to be discussed.
Snow also said a Senate vote of no confidence regarding Attorney General Alberto Gonzales would be a "purely symbolic vote" that would have no effect on President George Bush. He said it's a combination of a Senate unable to deliver on its promises and attempts by some to find a political advantage.
Asked about the president's decision not to renominate Gen. Peter Pace as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff hasn't weakened him politically.
"The American people issued a vote of no confidence in Congress and in the Senate," Snow said. "I don't know if you saw it, but (Senate Majority Leader) Harry Reid's approval rating is 19 percent."

Rupie’s Murdoch’s boys and girls are fairly solid on selling this country out. Tony Snow formerly of Rupie’s crew is no different than pro-amnesty dominated crowd on Fox. No news here.
It is sad to see Tony have to pimp himself out on a position he has written against in the past.
That’s sad.
The solution is simple. Stiff penalties for employers that hire undocumented workers.
Why not try that, Mr President?
“
“The American people issued a vote of no confidence in Congress and in the Senate,” Snow said. “I don’t know if you saw it, but (Senate Majority Leader) Harry Reid’s approval rating is 19 percent.””
It isn’t just Congress who we have no confidence in on the immigration issue.
He drank the Kool-Aid.
Looks like a SNOW job to me !
“The American people issued a vote of no confidence in Congress and in the Senate”
And unfortunately no such avenue for expression of public sentiment is available for your Boss, Mr. Snow...
A couple of amendments are not going to make a dime’s worth of difference, the style is now but the game is the same as it was so long ago......Led Zepplin reference inevitable...
Reid is counting that his Las Vegas base can overwhelming some national 19 percent rating.
STOP AMNESTY NOW!! WE CAN DO IT!!
CALL! CALL! CALL! CALL! AND KEEP CALLING TILL THE LINES FRY!
WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! TILL YOU RUN OUT OF INK IN YOUR PEN!
Bombard the Democrats as well, especially the ones that ran on an anti illegal immigration plank and the ones in marginal districts who could be vulnerable. keep pounding on them. This is a bipartisan issue not a Conservative or Liberal issue BUT AN AMERICAN issue.
The people speak...a letter to the editor of the Williamsport Sun-Gazette:
A movement afoot
Yesterday I was one of many who attended an anti-illegal alien rally held in Hazleton the first town to pass an anti-illegal ordinance. And where the mayor has just been re-elected, not only by his party, but by write-in votes of the opposing party.
The national media doesn’t want people knowing all the facts. Nor does the liberal media.
Besides Mayor Barletta, Carmen Morales of You Don’t Speak for Me, William Gheen of ALIPAC, Peter Gadiel of the 9/11 Families for a Secure America, Pa. Rep. Daryl Metcalf who started the State Legislators for Legal Immigration movement, and others spoke. Their speeches were awesome, the crowd inspired.
When Carmen Morales spoke, she was cheered after almost every sentence. What a tremendous person. She represents what is good when it comes to immigration. She is so proud to be an American.
There was one guy who hollered out something like “leave the Mexicans alone, they have a right here.” The response from the crowd was immediate and in seconds, he was surrounded by police officers, who led him away. While this was going on, the crowd started chanting “USA.”
Its just a shame that the national news channels have more important things to cover such as Paris Hilton. She is much more important than the future of the U.S.
John McCain has stated if we dare to deny citizenship to the illegals (20-30 million - plus families), there will be rioting.
What he doesn’t say is that places in Arizona are on the verge of riots now. And that educated people are leaving California in droves because of the illegals, and now the corporations are crying for people with the same educations to come in from foreign countries. Nor does he mention about the whispers of civil war around the country.
If you haven’t called your senator, do it now. Sen. Specter is selling America down the river and Rep. Carney won’t come out with a straight answer.

I know the intent of your post Palladin, it is a good oen, but the thought of “us” rioting over this proposed law is not a very good one at all.
That sound you just heard was McCain’s candidacy crashing into a barren ptach of Arizona desert..
