President Bush wants Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to resurrect the controversial immigration-reform bill that was pulled last night after a motion to cut off debate failed, White House adviser Dan Bartlett said today.
Asked about the bill as Bush prepared to leave the G8 Summit in Germany, Bartlett told CNN the president believes declaring it dead is premature, and he wants Reid to consider putting it back on the table.
The plan would allow millions of illegal aliens now within U.S. borders to pay a fine and become legal.

How will Bush & Kennedy do this?
I get the feeling here where you know the people have won a major victory against the govt, and if the govt can't win through the senate they'll find another way to force this Amnesty on us.
How will they do it?
Be vigilant folks! Something doesn't feel right to me...
Bush doesn’t know when it’s time to stop. Americans don’t want this bill. Conservatives who PUT HIM IN OFFICE want it even less. He’s beating a dead horse.
Bribes ... big giant dollops of taxpayer money for the needed Senate votes.
Poor Bush, the biggest tin ear in politics.
Hey Jorge - aren’t you cooked enough yet?
EO?
I don’t entirely trust Worldnet Daily.
Dan Bartlett is the “trusted adviser” who recently announced his decision to leave the White House next month to pursue other interests, not that that has any immediate connection to this story.
“Hes beating a dead horse.”
Actually, he’s looking for an open revolt.
The only upside is it lets our new nominees distance themselves from what is turning into a failed presidency.
Nooooooo! Please stop the insanity, prez bush.

Question of the Day: What is more likely:
1) El Presidente becoming AWARE and then doing the right thing on the border?
or 2) his Impeachment by Democrats (in the absence of his previous conservative base)?
Start calling the White House next week. I guess the ongoing battle will be the American people against the nitwits we stupidly put into office. The American people will win this battle!

He can't see the forest for the trees...
Yes, this is what I feared yesterday. Load the bill down with billions in pork. Promise key senators special favors or appointments. There was already an earlier story saying that one senator had been promised appointment as a federal judge, and with Bush and the Democrats on the same page, that wouldn’t be hard to do.
I heard on the radio just a few minutes ago, in Bush’s Sat. radio address he states he wants it revisited right away.
Whats happening is, This bill, or something like it is going to get crammed up our patooties.
“Be vigilant folks! Something doesn’t feel right to me...”
Doesn’t feel right to me either! So much for President Bush coming to his senses and realizing that the American citizens have spoken! I hate to say it, but I am loosing my respect for President Bush on this issue because he is so very wrong in pushing this terrible immigration bill! Where is Tony Snow been? Thought at least Tony would have the common sense to point out the many problems with this bill to President Bush.
Grrr.
The “Daily Dose” “Sanity Island” threads in comparison with what is going on are just nuts.
Now you do :) Deport every last one of these illegals, NOW!
