“And many of our leaders either do not recognize the historically (throughout the history of mankind) unprecedented threat that this enemy poses, or they choose to minimize that threat for reasons that can only be explained under the heading of ignorance, or treason.
Our leaders more often than not re-define or bury the truth, when it threatens to interfere with their agenda or decrease what they see as deserved power ... even when standing face-to-face with this malevolence.”
Too many would rather score their political points against Bush than honestly face the threats posed by Al Qaeda and Iran and others.

Ping to another brilliant essay by one of most eloquent writers FR has even known.
Joanie, it’s so good to see you here! Thank you for this provocative piece!

Look, I am tired of people saying we are not interested. I have been saying for years now the Clintons as well as others should be in jail. We have not forgotten and we are still trying to get these two out of politics.

Agree completely.
Washington DC has been completely overrun with self serving backstabbers and grifters.
Gone are the patriots. In their place are prostitutes.

"For what I believe is the first time in our history, the majority of our leadership in Washington bears more allegiance to an agenda, or a cadre of special interest groups..." Nope. It happened before in the years leading up to 1861.

Excellent work joanie, we see the disolution of our society before our eyes and refuse to believe it.
We see the last best hope for man on earth flicker, a torch that once blazed brightly as a beacon for all now ashamed of it’s own light.

Re-read, freekitty:
I assume that most readers here are aware of at least the majority of the Clintons crimes/borderline crimes and treasonous activities. And yet the average American voter either (1) hasnt cared enough to learn about them over the past decade, (2) knows about them and considers them irrelevant, or (3) has forgotten them.
I am well aware that you, and most here on FR, are more than interested in seeing to it that the Clintons pay for their crimes. Unfortunately the 'average American' is not, or Hillary would not be the front-runner for 2008.

Good read. I particularly liked your “enter elitist rule stage left”...could write a PhD thesis on that alone.

I believe we have reached a point in our survival as a national when past historical precedent is no longer valid. I believe we have reached critical mass ...

Absolutely brilliant, Joanie. You should run for national office. I agree with the poster above. This may be the best vanity piece I have ever read here on FR.
To: joanie-f
Regardless of your sad tail of woes, this country is head and shoulders above the rest of them. If you doubt it visit a few.
